  1. Maybe sending it into space, on a path to the sun isn't such a bad idea, after all. By the time they DO find it, if there is ANYTHING left to find, we will all probably be dead anyway. Let's start now..., the sooner the better. That way, even if they DO think to look in outer space, at least we will had a vast head start. Amen?
  2. If you can buy something and it does NOT belong to you, what is the point in buying it? Isn't that called renting? I am suing them for misleading sales tactics and mislabeling what it really is...renting...not buying. Isn't there a truth in advertising law?
  3. When are we gonna learn? _______________________________________________________________________________ 1) Piracy is wrong. It is wrong to steal CD's from a store cause it belongs to them. 2) Once you buy something, ownership is transferred to you, not them. (Whoever heard of owning a thing that someone else can STILL tell you what to do with? 3) Sharing is NOT piracy. Of course it's easy to make copies. But I own it when I buy it. If I don't they are merely renting it to me and I will sue them for truth in advertising neglect. If you are not buying, but only renting, they should clearly tell you so. _______________________________________________________________________________ I don't know about you, but I don't need a law to tell me whether it's legal to share things that I buy or not. Either it is mine or it is not.
  4. I found this website the other day with an emerging band that seems to do pretty good. http://www.conformityfalls.com/ I downloaded a couple of their songs under media I think it is. Somewhere in there. _______________________________________________________________________________ I like Disturbed, 7Dust, Seether, Linking Park, Limp Bizkit, StainD, System of a Down, 3 Doors Down, and many others. _______________________________________________________________________________ Hope my list is not too long. Thank you. What do you think?
  5. The problem with the forum is finding the right place for the right things. _____________________________________________________________________________ Making the forum better: What if there is a single forum link that contains all the things you need: 1) Bugs (report bugs) 2) Suggestions (send in suggestions) 3) Lounge (all news) _____________________________________________________________________________ Maybe a way to automatically sort all posts by a user into a folder with that user's name + the ability to sort it where the newest topics by them are on the top. Have a download link to the beta right on the download page for C-Cleaner, but post a warning that it is a beta, use at your own risk. _____________________________________________________________________________ On C-Cleaner website, maybe list 3 things for less confusion. Download / Forum / Software Software of course, would have all the listings for free software that people suggest. Thank you & maybe this can help!
  6. Backup all your music, pictures, texts that are important to you. Write down your display, audio, lan, modem, & usb drivers since these are usually the ones that windows has the most trouble installing. ______________________________________________________________________________ Format & reinstall w2k. If install completes, it may be possible that your harddisk is not corrupted or almost dead. ______________________________________________________________________________ Reinstall all your programs & restore your backed up files. Live in happiness & bliss (hopefully). ______________________________________________________________________________ Note: Running scandisk or defrag on a drive that you know has no errors, can actually cause "errors" to come up. It is, after all, a process that is imperfect, & usually long. It can also cause premature failure of the harddisk if ran excessively. Thanks & good luck.
  7. Abi-Word http://www.abiword.com Abiword is another freeware alternative to MS Office, plus it is only 5 to 8 megs or so, compared to about 100 or so for openoffice suite. It does not have some things open office has, but is easy to use, fast, great for slower computers (or to save disk space), plus you can do paragraph structuring in 2 or 3 columns just like a newspaper with the click of a button. Many things that open office and ms word can do, abiword can also. It also has a few features they do not as well as being much smaller to download. CD Interface http://cdinterface.sourceforge.net CD Interface is a really simple and easy to use program that lets you design professional looking cd menus with almost no effort. It is free and has a search function that you can search for a file straight off the disk without using windows search. Locate32 http://locate32.webhop.org Locate32 is a file search tool that has everything your win98 search tool had and then some. Ever wonder why searches in XP take 15 min? Locate32 does the same job in hundredths of a second and is free. It will take a few min to get used to having that much raw power, but once you see what it can do, you will be amazed. Install it and then go to the file toolbar at the top and choose update default database. This will generate an index of all files in your system. Under options, set it to update every time you reboot if you wish. This way, it can always find the any file on your system. It works great for me, and it's nice knowing I save 15 min with every search I make with this program instead of xp search.
  8. It might not be exact, but the point I was making is that while we have so many lawsuits and are stuck in indecision either for or against, making every simple decision into a long legal struggle, our people in USA are falling behind. Other countries are a bit more lax on their laws so they move ahead.
  9. They have spy satellites that can zoom in on a dime on a park bench and they get better every few years, if not every year. With their ability to pull in distant stars beyond our galaxy, it is no problem for them to snoop on us if they wish. ____________________________________________________________________________ Scarey things exist that you may or may not know about. They have laser rifles capable of slicing someone's head off and no evidence is left behind. How can you track a light beam? Subsonic and supersonic weapons exist. The subsonic ones can generate a bass frequency so low that you cannot hear it but it will make you lose control of your bowels (crap in your pants). Radiations exist that can fry the electronics in newer cars and kill them dead if they want to stop you, but they may burn the skin. ____________________________________________________________________________ Hopefully, they never go public with these weapons. It seems that they are not content enough with only destroying the bad guys but also the innocent people as well. When do they kill enough innocents? Or is it ok to murder any number of innocent people you want to so that you can get a few bad guys? Why aren't there anyone upset that innocent people are killed? If one person doesn't matter, then we should not press charges next time ONE person gets killed, say your husband, wife, son, daughter, etc.
  10. This is dissappointing to me, and we usually like to think USA has the best technology. However, it will not be that way for long if things keep going the way they are. We are so embroiled in laws, lawsuits, demands, greed, "sharing = piracy" etc, that other contries are making great strides to overtake us. _____________________________________________________________________________ There are tritium lights in other countries that are different colours of the rainbow, any colour that you want, based on a low level radiation that will not harm you but lasts up to 12 or 14 years continuously burning without going out. Think of how much electricity and cancer causing carcinogenous substances we can eliminate by using these lights in our flashlights, cars, homes. But we haven't got them yet because "they haven't been approved yet by the gov to be sure they are really safe" There are blue ray 100 gig dvd and they are fixing to release hd dvd that are 300 gig of storage, but we may or may not see them here till they can determine if such things would "increase" "piracy" Wireless networks here may be considered good if they extend 100 to 500 feet away, but in other countries it already exists that they have wi-fi that can be connected to from several kilometers away. There are lights that you shake and it generates current to store in an internal battery. Magnetism is involved in the process, as that is how they make electricity by spinning coils of wire through a magnet. You shake a coil of wire up and down for 30 seconds for 5 min or more of light from an LED bulb. Highly efficient and requires no err... batteries to replace. They recently got that in the USA though. But they may not for long if oil companies get really greedy and pitch a fit. Recently, gas companies were repriminded for raising prices, and the high profits they made. They were excused and let off the hook when they said that with this additional monies that they can research new ways to use alternative clean energies. Right, and we haven't seen that they will waste money on anything rather than give it back to the people? _____________________________________________________________________________ This is a short list of things we are falling behind in because of latency due to being tied up in hundreds of thousands of lawsuits and legalities. More companies leave the USA every year because of this. People are getting more time in jail due to tax evasion than criminals that shoot people in cold blood. Does this concern anyone else besides me?
  11. One thing I forgot to mention is that whether it is because they do not know much about computers, or because they are afraid to upgrade, I have seen many business/towns that are (scarily enough) still trying to use either win 95 or win 98. _______________________________________________________________________________ The reason this is scary is that not only do they have an older os, they have older comptuers as well usually. Some of them are trying to make it along on 300 or 400 pentium 2 or even a pentium chip, with as little as 16 or 32 megs of memory. But I have seen one that tried to make it on as little as 8 megs of memory. Loading just internet explorer took a full 5 min at least. I do not know how they had that much time. _______________________________________________________________________________ Win 98 is probably better than either win 95 or win me, but it suffers from not running programs in seperate memory spaces. So there are programs that compete to share the same memory or disk space address, corrupting the data. Works almost as well as shredding the data with Eraser 5.7 at sourceforge.net, lol. So if you want "security" with win 98, you might be more secure than you know when your data gets crosslinked and overwritten. Heh, heh. Win 98 does have excellent ability to run older dos apps that will not work in xp even with compatibility mode running. _______________________________________________________________________________ Win XP runs things in seperate memory spaces and is far more stable than win 95, 98, me.
  12. I am unsure where these viruses were coming from. But I do not believe that a network router would stop the viruses from slamming them if the routers you are referring to are other computers connecting to the town. So far as the town having one on their computer or network, no, I was unaware of any firewall softwares or antivirus softwares being on ANY of their computers. Hey, after all, they could "tell" if a virus hits them. I hope that I opened their eyes a bit. I was more than slightly taken aback that they would treat people's data in such a careless way. Whether they had a hardware firewall, I am unaware if they did, they may have been still using dialup, but I could be wrong. Reguardless, the point is that they should have at least have had some sort of firewall + antivirus protection. Antispywares could have helped as well, but they did not even know about spyware programs. As for whether or not you can call me CPU, I didn't think of that before, but hey, that is pretty cool! Lol! Yes, that is fine with me.
  13. I wish to inform you for those of you that trust all gov opinions and town decisions, many of these people are even more clueless than you and may even know less. _________________________________________________________________________ I have repaired a computer for a town that they were using, had customer records and all. No antivirus what so ever installed. No firewall, no nothing. I basically had to educate them because they were a town, and they should have known better. They were mistakenly thinking that they can tell if they have a virus, just don't click when it asks. Viruses these days are automated, and spyware install behind your back via silent installs. Winrar can make silent installers such as this. I located over 80 viruses on their pc. It is a wonder that some password stealer or hidden keylogger trojan did not attach to this pc. I had to run the right click and scan C: for viruses because it was so infected, that it would not allow the antivirus program to run directly through double clicking the icon for it at first. _________________________________________________________________________ So if you trust the gov with your privacy, with all your needs, be concerned. I bet you there are far more than one of these towns and cities, or even government offices using infected pc's. _________________________________________________________________________ If it can happen to one town, why can't it happen higher up also? I was amazed that these people who are supposed to be "in the know" simply are so unprepared for the simplest things should disaster occur. Peace
  14. Good points 1) Microsoft coded bugs (intentional or not), so they are to blame for producing it. 2) We bought software that we (probably) knew contained bugs, so we are to blame for using it. 3) I hope these bugs don't cause the end of the world any time soon, what happens if there appears a time error or glitch? Is it possible for boards to get semi-fried and still work just enough to intro random bugs from faulty memory read/writes that then gets passed and shared to others (progressively degenerating softwares)? I had a pc once that I worked on that the modem worked just enough that windows detected it had one, but it was fried just enough so that windows couldn't really use it (one of the chips on it had fried) and it kept the pc endlessly rebooting as soon as it loaded to windows (until I replaced it with a new modem) Conclusion: Everyone is to blame for basically everything,
  15. I agree with you eldmannen. There is no reason to be fearful. 1) People let tv tell them when to be afraid. "Today, we have an ORANGE terrorist alert, no wait, make that a DOUBLE orange alert. So if you weren't afraid yesterday, today you HAVE to be afraid, it's like, we force you to. WE control your fear level." Do they really have the potential to know there "might" or "might not" be more bad things happening? How many times have they said 97% chance of rain and yet the sun was shining? Do you really trust these idiots? I recall one year they predicted it would snow but the sun came out all beautiful and such. 2) People are afraid because they are afraid to die. They will do anything to preserve their life. I am not afraid because I am not afraid to die. I was not here before I was born and back to dust I will return, so I will defend what I think is right even if it COSTS my life. Being a wimp and being afraid to stand up under the excuse "they might kill me if I don't let them invade my privacy, screw my wife, sell me into slavery..." is highly looked down upon. If enough people STAND THE HELL UP, then they will be AFRAID to do anything. They are afraid now. That is why they are trying so hard to GRADUALLY get critical mass (enough control so that the majority will be under their control) Then they can do anything they want and will have little or no resistance perhaps. 3) "I got to have the rims, man, cause everyone else does" f*** everyone else, I am starting a new trend and being me. If they don't it, they can f***ity f*** themselves on the lowest tar pits in hell. I do not do things because "everyone else" is doing it, or it makes me "popular" but I do it because THAT IS WHAT I WANT TO DO. Why live life being unhappily conformist to everyone no matter what they do? 4) If I believe something is right, though 99.999999999999999999999999999999% of humans believe that is wrong, I still will stand for it. Hell f***ing yeah!!! Way to go Eldmannen! You are so right!
  16. You all have good ideas. C-Cleaner is all about erasing data from web surfing on trails on the computer that may for privacy risks or take up space. Please try to make sure that the items you post really do these things before you post: 1) Form a privacy risk 2) Waste space 3) Try not to ask for features that would be useless or almost useless, as we are striving to make C-Cleaner the best cleaner, and not a do everything but suck cleaner. Thanks!
  17. Firefox will not allow you to run executables until they are downloaded, unlike virulent Internet Explorer that not only allows it, but is dangerous if it is a virus trying to auto execute. Firefox is cross platform and works on windows 95, 98, me, 2000 (home and pro), 2003 server, xp, linux, apple, and is only 5 megs. 11 megs for IE? What are they thinking? Only 3 main platforms supported? What about people that are too poor to upgrade? No encrytion when sending things? Not too secure, perhaps they should learn a lesson from firefox. Keep it simple, fast, easy to use, SECURE. Firefox will work with or without a service pack. You can bookmark tabs in firefox, reopen hundreds at a time if needed. Clear ALL your tracks with a single click instead of about 20 or more in IE. Wait, let me find my history button, ok, now I have to hit ok and delete and I still got today's history that it didn't delete. Let me go somewhere else to get the cache, and a totally different place for cookies etc. Popup blocking? Not as god as firefox. Need IE in firefox? Download IE tabs FREE. Internet Explorer is bad for allowing any program to come along, attach itself as a toolbar (Usually spyware ridden) redirect searches, allow browser helper objects, cannot do many things compared to Firefox (search feeds, find as you type, highlight all terms) IE cannot hold a candle to searching in firefox (edit find in this page) Why is this a good feature? Examples: If looking at www.tigerdirect.com for a pentium 4 computer, I wish to eliminate celeron processor based pc's.By highlighting all celerons, I don't have to read every computer description and I can find what I am looking by avoiding all highlights. In a freeware search that has trial programs listed, I can highlight the term trial to show which are not free, conversely, I can highlight freeware or $0. Basically, you save time and time is money when using firefox. I have made an html Bible that has all the old and new and complete bible in html. Opening it in firefox lets you find a phrase as you type IMMEDIATELY without spending years finding what you are looking. People are UNABLE to deny if you say a thing is in the bible. Those are some examples. But I really don't read the bible much because it is only an english translation and therefore full of errors. It is only useful as a guide. This is so other people can see that it is NOT error free. Service pack? Secure? More secure? In this day and age, when vulnerabilities are discovered EVERY DAY, more secure is not secure enough. IF Microsoft doesn't fix this soon, they will be forced bankrupt as viruses, spyware, hacks, and identity theft ARE ON THE INCREASE instead of DECREASE like one would expect if they were really more secure. Having a service pack installed that fixes SOME holes while opening 2 NEW holes for every hole it fixes is not my idea of being more secure. Thanks, but no thanks. I refuse to be blamed because I did not apply the LATEST patch (that leaves still more holes open) if something happens. Bad coding can NOT be blamed on or excused on the consumers using it! When Microsoft gets serious (doubtful since $$$ is involved) and patches all the holes (doubtful since it would destroy norton, mcafee, and slews of other cash cows) THEN I will be interested in applying the patches. The US government said that IE posed a security risk and recommended firefox. NASA gives up ENTIRELY on IE in favor of firefox. http://blog.tcg.com/tcg/2005/12/nasa_ditches_ie.html Government, Internet Explorer poses security risk, third party browser such as firefox recommended, http://www.governmententerprise.com/news/175802504 Ok, well, here is the deal "You can't blame Microsoft for all the bugs in their os, simply too many people use it" 1) Windows contains bugs. 2) Windows is written by Microsoft 3) We cannot put the bugs that were written by Microsoft (possibly inadvertently) on the users Conclusion: If Microsoft writes the code for Windows, and Windows contains bugs, the blame can only be passed to the one who is at fault: Microsoft. Trying NOT to still doesn't erase the fact that the bugs are there. Consumers certainly did not code the bugs, so they are not to blame for finding what was already there. When are we gonna learn to take responsibility instead of blaming someone else? How can Microsoft's bugs be OUR fault?
  18. I never would of thought my ideas would get so much attention. Will it work if you only put some either cesium or just maybe some magnesium on it and burn it all the way through? Or is that not destroying it far enough? P.S. I really did a lot of thinking about the dumping it into a volcano crater idea, but on hind thought, I decided it's probably not safe enough. I mean, how can you know for SURE that the volcaoe is gonna stay active long enough to completely destroy the drive? Or what it it lands on the egde instead of in the lava or magma pit and you can't retrieve it yet? What if instead of destroying it, some of that hot lava forms around it and cools into a harded layer, protecting the drive, and they find it years later after you died? They might come after you or something. Thanks, please let me know what you think too. I really appreciate your suggestions and thoughts.
  19. Heh heh, thanks pal, everyone needs a pat now and then. You really made me laugh with your silly replies.
  20. "It is legal to destroy citizen privacy for the embetterment of our country, " "Wiretapping is NOT illegal" G. W. Bush, 2006. 1) Who in hell made Bush God? 2) I know police officers about 8 miles from here that were involved in a conspiracy that were white. There were 3 that conspired to steal money from mexicans when they pulled them over because "they wouldn't know english" There is also one that I think is still loose that is involved in child porn. We trust these idiots with OUR privacy? Wake up people, no way in hell. No matter who these police or government officials are, do we REALLY trust them with OUR privacy? Think back...., Clinton / Lewinsky? It ain't sex, also the I didn't inhale so I didn't smoke it? 3) If they get away with this with OUR permission, it won't be long before they do AWAY with it WITHOUT our permission. Airport terminals already are equipped with scanners similar to the x-ray that can show the entire human form. Repeatedly we have seen in the media that these perverts cannot handle beautiful women and the like (or men if it is women). Do we trust them NOT to lust after our wives when they see them stark naked on terminals (except the software that clothes the privates with digital fig leaves)? 4) Give away your privacy if you wish, but I am not afraid to die to defend mine. Terrorists? Potential Terrorists? EVERYONE has the potential to do evil, but not everyone does. Does this mean they are using that to eliminate ANYONE they want gone under the guise they had the possibility to do wrong, they were "preventing" it from happening? Who the hell said they can know what a person is gonna do BEFORE they do it? Don't you ever change your mind? Thanks, concerned citizen
  21. OK, Internet Explorer is not as simple as firefox nor as easy to use. It only works on computers with service pack 2 or better installed, which is a shame, since service pack 2 opens a new hole for every one that it pretends to fix. If the service pack doesn't do any good, there is no need to apply it. Given microsoft's track record, the service pack is exactly that, NO GOOD as hackers have proven that even the smallest exploit such as windows meta file can be turned into a nightmare when they get done rewriting the scripts. I don't know if there is a god or not, but if there is and they will solve our problems, I am willing to worship them since man has proven that they are in general, liars, theives, adulterers and cannot solve the overpopulation, disease, spyware, virus, nor fix the holes in their software. Even if there is only 1 error per 1,000 lines, then in microsofts more than 40 million lines of code, isnt that better than 40,000 errors waiting to happen? Peace, and thanks to those that ARE good people, P.S. Get the IE tab extension for firefox that enables a right click open in IE tab option (still within firefox) so you never have to touch that pesky, browser helper object and search redirect riddled IE again.
  22. Ogg vorbis is very good, bust most commercial and free cd burnign programs only burn either mp3 or wma to wav audio for playing in a car stereo so what GOOD is it if you can't listen to it on your car stereo or make it portable? MP3 seems to be the best
  23. Hey, I never quite got how you can "own" intellectual" property. If we keep on, how will we be able to talk cause everyone will own a word or phrase or even a tune and we can no longer play or talk. Besides, once you release an idea, noone can stop it from spreading, cause thats like impossible. I agree that piracy is wrong, but it is just as wrong to label sharing as piracy. The fact is, if you buy a cd, it belongs to you. I never heard of shared ownership before that you BUY something to make it yours, but they still own it and can tell you what to do with it. Do you let them tell you what you can do with YOUR wife also? Wow. Oh, and don't get windows vista unless they change it to NOT being "trusted computing platform based" which means that ccleaner can't work because they are trying to lock out all freeware companies in competition with them under the guise that it is "safer" I know ccleaner is much safer than 99% of microsoft crap so I don't buy that. Plus they are trying to get video companies to make monitors that will refuse to display video if it is a coped disk. If you bought a dvd, why cant you have a backup? Your dog can easily destroy one, as can scratches etc. Plus, they might never make that movie again later on. I never understood how you can own a thing but they can still tell you what to do. Who is gonna be the first to sue them for not telling the truth, that they disobey the truth in advertising act. They aren't selling you a cd, they are renting it. The dirty f****** bastards. Please excuse my anger, I can't say any dirty words, but that is just how angry they got me. Oh, and don't forget if sony sues you, be sure to sue back and point out that while they sue everyone for $200,000 per song for "potential" lost revenue, they only offered 11 free songs that didn't cost them jack on their website to people who were affected by their rootkits. I want to buy one of their cd's with it so it can destroy my computer data, cause it potentially can do millions of dollars worth of damage to my computer business. Hey, I got everything backed up, but jut don't tell Sony that yet. If they can sue for millions, why can't I sue them for the same thing, or isn't it the same thing? Hmmm, no more sony for me. Be sure to support the new hd format that they said can have 300 gig dvd's and not blue ray that sony does, or it may have content protection, even if it is an mp3 that YOU created from your own band. Well, any time I can help you guys, I am so proud of your tech response. I got over 100 views yesterday. I am so happy. I love you guys, and I can't help it. Hee hee.
  24. There is a freeware opensource file at sourceforge.net called eraser 5.7 that can wipe a drive. There is also robin hood software's Evidence Eliminator (not free). As for the most secure, get your harddisk totally degaussed with an extremely high powered magnet (think like the use on cranes at junkyards or higher) for about 5 min or so. Don't expect to be able to use it after that. But just to be sure they don't try to snoop through it with electron microscopes or attempt to read left or right of a track for ghost images, with the harddisk diagnostic mode normally used in error correction, and just in case you are super paranoid, try welding it into a smoldering pile of dust (make sure you wear your proper welding gear to keep from being blinded, or have a friend do it for you so you dont have to while you watch to be sure it gets destroyed). Or, try submerging it in hydrochloric acid bath and then disposing of it into either the nearest volcanoe vent, or your garbage displosal machine. Heck, if you throw it away in the garbage, they might not even notice. Don't forget that the transient data on your ram sticks that dissappears on each reboot of an operating system, might have traces that can be recovered from the last session, so just crack and burn those, or expose them to a dangerously high current until you know it is positively fried into oblivion till kingdom come. Even so, I don't know if these methods are extreme enough, or if you really want to send it into outer space on a path to the sun to be destroyed in a fiery inferno. Well, be sure that whatever way that you choose, you do it to the extreme. If you do download the eraser or evidence eliminator, I highly recommend setting it to far beyond the dod or even nsa level of destruction, just to be sure. Somethine like 999 times or so, and repeat that 999 times to be certain that your data really is destroyed beyond recovery. Or that they can't use pattern matching and say, since this is now a 0 then it must have been a 1 prior and dig down through multiple layers till they recover your stuff. Make them work their ass off. At least maybe they will give up before they have any hope. Why work too hard for something like that? I hope that I helped you. I will be glad to assist you with any problems you have in the future. Amen.
  25. Um, and if copying is also illegla, isn't it also illegal for their to be a part of his post in all of your posts? Isn't that like copying the copier? So all you people are just as guilty.
