  1. I have just downloaded the latest version and have found i now have a Yahoo tool bar installed as well!! Can sombody tell me how to remove it please??

You could reinstall CCleaner and at the bottom of the setup options page deselect the install Yahoo toolbar option. There is also a toolbar free version and a slim version [no toolbar, English language only] located on this page.

  2. Hi, I run CCleaner everyday, and when scanning for issues, I always delete old path names, file names etc, basically anything that isn't an activex/com entry.

Could I delete all activex issues without repurcushions? I am nervous of removing them all, but I would like to if they are causing isses within my pc.

    Screenshot attached :)

    Thanks in advance xxx

    Hello and welcome!

I'm not one of the experts but my personal experience is that I've never had any issues with CC and Activex removal. CC will ask you if you want to make a backup as a precaution just in case. If you're a little paranoid [like me, lol] you could also create a System Restore point if you want. A lot of people here also like using Erunt in addition to or instead of System Restore. It's fast, easy, and can even be set to do a backup every time the computer boots. It backs up the registry only and doesn't use nearly as much disk space as System Restore.

Did you create the Cleaner icon? I've never seen that one. It's cool.

Hope this over long post was of some help :) .

Cool name and avatar btw  !

  3. Hello and welcome to the forum!

You may have to open Task Manager and end the Firefox program there. For some reason it sometimes continues to run in the background even though you've exited the program.

Ctr+Alt+Delete and then right click on firefox.exe then click on End Process and then Yes. Then run CCleaner as usual.

  4. I think that's a great Idea! Especially since Windows Defender loves creating restore points without notifying the user that it is creating them.

The ability to keep the most recent user generated restore point would also be a great feature in my opinion. I'm sure that would be more difficult than just retaining the last one be it system created or user created though.

Btw, you can also clear restore points by turning off system restore and then restarting it. This also clears all the restore points but it's a little faster I think.

  5. "Net neutrality" is a concept that is still unfamiliar to most Americans, but it keeps the Internet democratic. Cable and telephone companies that provide Internet service are talking about creating a two-tiered Internet, in which Web sites that pay them large fees would get priority over everything else. Opponents of these plans are supporting Net-neutrality legislation, which would require all Web sites to be treated equally. Net neutrality recently suffered a setback in the House, but there is growing hope that the Senate will take up the cause.

  6. shizzl my nizzle...it's all good Ro Ro. We cool like dat... :P

If you two keep talking like that I may have to start rapping again. No one wants that. :(

    Fo shizzle.

  7. Glad I could help. You'll find CCleaner is safe and effective. Look around the forums if you get time. You can learn a lot from the people here. I sure have. And feel free to contribute as well.

I like the lighthouse. Cape May is a really nice place. Hope to go there again sometime and find more Cape May diamonds. Maybe not while the horseshoe crabs are washing up all over, LOL!.

    Take care!

    PS: 160.000 files? OMG!

  8. Hello and welcome to the forum :) !

It should be safe to delete all those files. The log files are created by varous programs and are generally used for troubleshooting if a problem appears. If you are not having any problems with the programs the logs refer to feel free to delete them. If they are needed in the future, they will be recreated. [i always have various wbem logs and always delete them.]

Don't be alarmed by the large amount of files found, this is normal the first time CCleaner is run.

If you have XP, you could create a Restore Point before cleaning for reassurance, but it's usually not neccessary but it doesn't hurt either.

Again welcome to the forum and feel free to ask questions whenever you have them.

PS: I grew up in the NJ metropolis of Denville. if you know where that is :D !

  9. I realize what the point of the ruling is. My point was that I hope that an ancillary effect of the lawsuit, the court proceedings, and the subsequent article describing the ruling would be to bring to light the goings on of Universal Boards and maybe that a negative public reaction will be an unintended consequence of the actions they themselves have undertaken both in the business world and the legal system.

  10. Look, his dad or uncle played this prank on his kid or nephew and he paniced and started crying, lol! Mean, but fun!

See what happens when people see my picture? That's why I never give it out...

My roommate screamed and ran out of the room hyperventilating.

The same thing happened the last time I did.

  11. Hello and welcome to the forum!

We've all had the same experience. The first time CCleaner finds a ton of stuff! You should be OK letting it clean whatever it finds but if you have XP you could do a system restore first for peace of mind and CCleaner will also ask you if you want to do a backup before cleaning the registry just to be safe as well.

Let us know if you have any more questions!

  12. thanks for all those. its still pretty confusing but i think ill manage. wat about that mouse problem?

Are you using a PS2 mouse?

    Warning:

Stay away from Cygwin. It's supposed to run Linux alongside Windows. It's evil  .

  13. I heard that there is a downside of having a large hosts file?

That's the beauty of it. The hosts file is only 432K. Then entire Etc folder is only 884K. I was going to install Hostman but with SpyWareBlaster blocking malicious sites and this mod blocking advertisements it's the best of both worlds without having a giant hosts file.

I used to have Hostman with it's humongous hosts file but I reinstalled XP recently and hadn't reinstalled it. So far no bad sites and now no advertisements, I haven't even had to use AdBlock lately.

As lokoike would say w00t! w00t! FTW!
