  1. Use Panda Cloud AV. Not only is it one of the BEST freeware AVs, but you also don't have to update it, since it's cloud based. From my personal experience with it, I'd say go for it. I liked it a lot! It's also good for dial up users since there's no updating!

  2. Try making a topic in the Spyware Hell section of the forum, and tell Rorschach (current spyware mod) about the problems you're having. He can probably help you out. ;) And try Hazelnut's instructions, that might allow you to install MBAM.

Also, could you get a screenshot of all the processes in your Task Manager, and post it in this topic? There might be a malware process running that is blocking you from downloading MBAM.

  3. This test is useless. All the versions they are using are outdated. Use NOD32 as an example. They are using version 2! As for AVG, they don't even have it on there. They're using the very, very old version Ewido which changed to AVG later.

  4. So you're denied access to just this reg entry? Here are two interesting tidbits that might work for you (both the same thing, one is more complex:

Start regedit with admin privileges and try taking ownership of the key:

    Right-click key > Permissions > Advanced > Owner tab.

The current owner will be listed. Where it says 'Change owner to'

select your name or Administrators, select 'Replace owner on sub containers and objects'

    and Apply.

If it works you should be able to edit permissions now.

Run the Registry Editor program (regedit.exe) and navigate to the key. Right-click and select 'Permissions'. Then make sure that the Administrators group has 'Full Control'.
