Free-space defrag (having to use Windows Defragger for this)
Defraggler can already do that. When you defrag a drive, Defraggler will first defrag files/folders and then it will defrag free space.

GiveAwayOfTheDay is legit. Never got anything malicious from them.
As Andavari has said, much of the software isnt so great, but they have offered some nice software like BurnAware Home Edition and DefenceWall HIPS.

If you defrag the entire drive (and not just the individual files) using Defraggler it will consolidate the free space.

3. I would try cleaning up the drive and getting more free space. Also you can try defragging only a certain number of files at a time or defrag files with the fewest fragments first then move on to more fragmented files.

One thing I don't get.. where can you defrag the registry? can't find such a button..
It's probably posted in the wrong sub-section, but I saw someone mentioning it here, that's why..
The reason you cant find the button is because there is none. Defraggler doesnt defrag the registry.

IMO, correcting the system clock does not fit in with CCleaner's purpose and its better left for a separate program.

Analyze...well analyzes the drive for fragmentation.
Verify is just running chkdsk on the drive.

Will the default settings not be changed? Anything under #SharedObjects is ok for deletion but settings.sol should be kept.

For most programs, it just cleans MRU (Most Recently Used) lists. For browsers like Firefox though, it can clean the cache, history, cookies, etc.

Shouldnt Recuva portable save its settings to an INI file (by default) just like CCleaner portable does?
I found that that option is actually unchecked by default.

If we could specify our own list of extensions we want CCleaner to scan for, that would be even better.

Ok but why not CCleaner? I think CCleaner is great and would prefer to use it over others.

Did you use Orbit Downloader?
It adds "ob!" extension to incomplete files.

Heres how I see it:
Defragging - grouping all of a files segments together so its no longer fragmented
Compacting (aka consolidating) - groups free space into one large chunk so newly created files arent fragmented
Optimizing - organizing the files based on access or modification date, or by file name.

Sorting files by modification date would also be nice.
