  1. New Entry:  [Movavi Video Converter (Logs)*]

    [Movavi Video Converter (Logs)*]

  2. Hello,

    is it possible to include following directory to delete?

    C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\Installer2

    Thanks

    It can be deleted without affecting the operation of your Nvidia drivers and software.  HOWEVER, if you need to delete/uninstall the Nvidia software via Control Panel>Programs and Features, it will not unistall because the needed uninstall software is in the Installer2 folder that has been deleted.

    You would need to re-install the same version of the Nvidia software and then uninstall it via Control Panel>Programs and Features.

    That said, it does not affect "over the top" installations of a newer version of the Nvidia software.

  3. Modified Entry:  [CyberLink Crash Dumps*]

    [CyberLink Crash Dumps*]
    LangSecRef=3023
    Detect=HKCU\Software\CyberLink
    Default=False
    FileKey1=%CommonAppData%\CyberLink\Boomerang\*\|*.xml;*.dmp
    FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\VirtualStore\ProgramData\CyberLink\Boomerang\*\|*.xml;*.dmp
    FileKey3=%CommonAppData%\CyberLink\PowerDVD*\Boomerang\*\|*.xml;*.dmp
    FileKey4=%LocalAppData%\VirtualStore\ProgramData\CyberLink\PowerDVD*\Boomerang\*\|*.xml;*.dmp

    Modified FileKey3 and FileKey4 to accommodate the newly released Cyberlink PowerDVD 16

  4. No surprise, exclude keys are usually added for good reason. Generally a bad idea to remove them from the universal winapp2 file just cos it causes no problems on one persons system.

    Fully agree and understand.  I just wanted to re-enforce that they should not be removed by presenting a real-time example from my systems.   ;)

  5. Revised Entry

    Removed ExcludeKey's. Because of the ExcludeKey's, lots of LOG and .old files were not being removed. I have tested it on the latest version of Chrome with several extensions installed, no issue whatsoever.

    Making this change broke my Sticky Password extension in Chrome V50.0.2661.102 m on Windows 10 x64 insider build 14342.  The extension became inactive.  I had to uninstall it from Chrome and then re-install the extension via the Sticky Password program.

  6. Best way to take pressure off Winapp is to leave it alone (see post 5520), make polite requests for new softwares to be added, and say thank you from time to time.

    Two analogs come to mind: Gorhill's decision to separate uBlock Origin from uBlock, and the story of The Little Red Hen.

    edit:

    Hey siliconman01, is that the same ini file?

    Yep, it is Winapp2.ini Version 5.11

  7. I suggest we leave things as is until Winapp steps into the arena and debate.   :ph34r:

    I recently switched back to Avira Internet Security and was a bit surprised to find that its Avira Speedup System optimizer uses Winapp2.ini.  I don't recall seeing it being used, but it has been a year since I used Avira.

  8. Revised Entries

    Changed the Detect's to DetectFile's.

    [Config.msi Folder*]

    LangSecRef=3025

    DetectFile=%SystemDrive%\Config.msi

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%SystemDrive%\Config.msi|*.*|REMOVESELF

    [LastGood.tmp Folder*]

    LangSecRef=3025

    DetectFile=%WinDir%\LastGood.tmp

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%WinDir%\LastGood.tmp|*.*|REMOVESELF

    My preference is to leave these 2 entries as they currently are now.  If they are changed as shown above, then it could mean that the Config.msi and/or the LastGoog.tmp folders would go undetected for many days if the user "trimmed" the Winapp2.ini file on the last update and these 2 folders were nonexistent at the time of the "trim".

  9. Thanks much for the update !  ;)

    And no need to apologize about slight delay.  We know you have a life outside of Winapp2.ini and it is great to see that you are putting your priorities where they should be.   :)

  10. I think the entry listed below should be removed as it is causing issues on Windows 10, and corrupting UsrClass.dat. This link provides more info on these files: http://forum.piriform.com/?showtopic=34468

    To me, after defragmentation and compacting the registry hives, new .regtrans-ms files are created and the old ones can be removed. All of the .regtrans-ms files should not be removed.

    [Registry Transaction Logs*]

    LangSecRef=3025

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows

    Default=False

    FileKey1=%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\Windows|*.regtrans-ms

    FileKey2=%SystemDrive%\Users\Default|*.regtrans-ms

    I agree 100%  :)

  11. Does "DetectOS=6.2|6.3" work? This should detect Windows 8 (=6.2) and 8.1 (=6.3) only.

    DetectOS=6.2|6.3 keeps it from displaying on Windows 10.  However, I don't know if it displays on Windows 8 because I no longer have Windows 8 on any of my systems.

  12. Two [store*] showing up in Windows 10.

  13. But your understanding, as you've presented it above, is quite limited and I've seen no proof these file should be removed at all, let alone be considered to be junk files safe for cleaning regularly. While my vote counts for no more/less than anyone in this thread/forum, I vote these not be added

    I agree...do not add if they are questionable.  It is hard enough figuring out what problems are in Windows without self inducing more of them.

  14. New Entry for Full Licensed Ashampoo Burning Studio 16:  [Ashampoo Burning Studio 16*]

  15. I think there is some miscommunication here.

    @SMalik is correct, he already listed the ones which need be removed the post he linked specifically called out many entries.Either somebody can refute them (one-by-one) or they should be wholesale removed and let members resubmit entries without reg backup removal

    I of course meant for him to push the removals to the template, don't be stubborn for little reason.

    The following is just my opinion:

    I continue to feel that all these cleaning modules should not be removed from Winapp2.ini.  Most of them have been present in Winapp2.ini for years.  The user base of Winapp2.ini who utilize them (one or many of them) is accustomed to them doing their cleaning work.  I suspect that most of the users will be unaware that these cleaner modules have suddenly disappeared...that is, unless the read the monthly release notes...which many users probably do not.

  16. How about this @siliconman01?

    New Entry

    [Ashampoo Burning Studio 2016*]

    LangSecRef=3024

    Detect=HKCU\Software\Ashampoo\Ashampoo Burning Studio 2016

    RegKey2=HKCU\Software\Ashampoo\Ashampoo Burning Studio 2016\tempFiles

     This is okay by me if it is not desirable to combine and use the one I submitted.

  17.

    Yes, and I will most likely install the paid version when it is released.  However, I still do not see how this negates my recommended change at post #5238.  There are a lot of programs that have a free and paid version and have the same cleaner in Winapp2.ini.  ??

  18. Ashampoo Burning Studio 2016 is not version 16. I have version 15 and they have plans to release version 16 soon. We should have separate entries for version 15 and 2016.

    Well, I wonder what this program is that I installed yesterday from the Ashampoo website.

    If you look at the picture below from my system's Edge, you can see what it does to the Favorites/Bookmarks when running the [Microsoft Edge More*] module.  These favorites have been imported from IE 11.

  22. Remove:  [Microsoft Edge More*]

    I recommend that this cleaning module be removed from Winapp2.ini.  MS Edge is in development and this module cleans too much.  For example, it removes all imported favorites/bookmarks. Who knows what it may improperly clean as Microsoft incorporates enhancements/features into Edge.
