  1. ehem.... NOD32 ;)

    The interface isn't all that great, but I love it. Low on system resources too. But you do have to pay for it. Did you say you were looking for a free av?

  2. I've tried a few p2p programs, including sharaza and WinMX, but I like limewire the best. I get the best results wiith it and it works great.

    When you said you got 4 trojans, was that from installing Limewire or downloading a file from it? Just curious becuase Limewire has only shown positives results for me.

  3. Yeah, yeah.

    Windows works fine for me, so theirs no point in switching.(Lets not start a war here)

    And anyway I'm just a teenager, I dont have enough money to buy a Mac

    I think most people (including me) go for windows becuase its the most user friendly.

    BTW, I dont think Windows is the best at everything. <_<

  4. Volume in drive C has no label.

    Volume Serial Number is A4FB-A1F8

    Directory of C:\WINDOWS\downlo~1

    31/03/2005 04:27 PM <DIR> ..

    31/03/2005 04:27 PM 65 desktop.ini

    1 File(s) 65 bytes

    2 Dir(s) 24,414,457,856 bytes free

  5. I've already checked there a few times. Only 2 files. Both are Java Runtime Enviorments. Their the same version, created at the same time, and niether are damaged.

    I tried deleting them, but it said there wasn't enough information and they just dissapered.

    Problem still present :angry:

    Winamp installed fine.

  7. ... it is just using too much resources... a bit expensive for a stand alone antivirus... and doesnt uninstall completely...

    My point exactly...

    you cannot say internet explorer is really that horrible... many other programs will need to depend on it to run...

    I should have said that differently. IE is unsafe, because it's such a essential part of Windows. If everything in windows didn't depend on IE, than it wouldn't be that bad.

  8. I honestly don't understand why people still trust Norton or Mcafee.

    Because their the most popular, and has been for a while. Even though its so bad. It's like IE. Many people haven't even heard of Firefox, or any alternate browser. They think what they have is the best becuase everyone else uses it.

    If they saw how horible Norton or IE really is, then they would switch.

  9. If U Try Everything But Still Can't Work...Best Option Don't Use IE And Use Other Browser Like Opera Or Firefox...

    I use Firefox, but I need IE for other things...

    Are you able to download from Windows Updates?

    Do you encounter any *.inf file errors when installing applications?  (Try and install Winamp 5.09 if you use it, this one used to show a common *.inf error when I had a similar problem.)

    Man they sure gave you the runaround on that CastleCops site too.  o.o

    Yes, Windows Update is working. It wasn't when i first started expiriencing the active x problem.

    I was just about to update Winamp :lol:

  10. Fast Computer Fast Connection

    user_pref("content.interrupt.parsing", true);

    user_pref("content.max.tokenizing.time", 2250000);

    user_pref("content.notify.interval", 750000);

    user_pref("content.notify.ontimer", true);

    user_pref("content.switch.threshold", 750000);

    user_pref("nglayout.initialpaint.delay", 0);

    user_pref("network.http.max-connections", 48);

    user_pref("network.http.max-connections-per-server", 16);

    user_pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy", 16);

    user_pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server", 8);

    user_pref("browser.cache.memory.capacity", 65536);

    A couple settings of note - Firefox is allocated 4096 KB of memory by default and in this configuration we give it roughly 65MB as denoted by the last line. This can be changed according to what is used.

    Fast Computer, Slower Connection

    This configuration is more suited to people without ultra fast connections. We are not talking about dial up connections but slower DSL / Cable connections.

    user_pref("content.max.tokenizing.time", 2250000);

    user_pref("content.notify.interval", 750000);

    user_pref("content.notify.ontimer", true);

    user_pref("content.switch.threshold", 750000);

    user_pref("network.http.max-connections", 48);

    user_pref("network.http.max-connections-per-server", 16);

    user_pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy", 16);

    user_pref("network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server", 8);

    user_pref("nglayout.initialpaint.delay", 0);

    user_pref("browser.cache.memory.capacity", 65536);

    I think you'd be somewhere in between these two. Your computer is definatly fast enough, but your connection isn't "ultra fast".

    Play around with the settings a bit.

  11. You can try Syagte. Its pretty low on system resources and its one of the best. But if you use Firefox and don't go on any questionable sites, then it wouldn't be too bad.

    I dont understand people that have more than one firewall or av running. Theres a point were security turns into paranoia. :lol:
