  1. We have my of these "safe places" around my city, and I think they are a good idea. I can understand dropping off a newborn, especially if you know you can't take care of it and know the kid will have a better life without you. But a 3 year old?? Damn. That's just dumb. That type of "drop off" should not be allowed. The child should be handed over to a family member or placed for adoption.

    Revenge...

Oh believe me, if we could afford to post bail, I'd have pounded her one. I don't take kindly to people messing with my animals, or anyone else's for that matter. Like I said, the least she could have done was return him to me. But she doesn't even have the decency to do that. It's not like I live 5 miles away from her. And thank you, I'm glad my kitty is home. So is my dog. She missed him. lol

Oh I understand. If he had come back limb-less, then I'd have had to go to her house and rip HER limb from limb as well. Don't f*ck with my animals damn it. You know, we should start a pet thread and have everyone post pics of their pets.

I'll see if he'll strike a pose for me. lol If I find another snakeskin from it I'll get a pic of that too. NOOOOO thank you!!! I hate spiders just as much as I hate snakes. They give me the willies somethin' awful.

    Revenge...

Oh yes. Especially this time of year (mating season). Gotta love living in Florida. We've had rat snakes, black racers, glass snakes, garter snakes, some other little bugger that I was never able to identify, and we've heard the occastional rattle snake, but can't say for sure if it was in our yard or not. Right now I have an approximately 3 foot long black racer hanging out by my pool filter the back yard. So needless to say, I tend to go outside with either my machete or a rake in case he gets too close. They aren't poisonous, but nontheless, I don't enjoy creepy-crawlies. *shudders* Too bad they don't sell deterants for those. haha

    Revenge...

Yeah that I can understand. But that's also why they sell that stuff to keep them from going where you don't want them to. We use it in our gardens and stuff. And it does work, so that's a bonus. If only that had a product that actually worked on keeping snakes out of your yard. I'd be all set. haha This is friggin' hilarious. Gave him a dose of his own medicine. I love it! lol

    Revenge...

I don't know. I think it's more the fact that I know they are animals and need to be taught how to behave. Like my cat that got trapped. He's new in our house (we've only had him a few months) and the lady that I got him from had kept him as an outside cat. And naturally, we wanted him to be an inside cat, which he didn't like too much. So we would keep him in the house and then when he'd try to get out, we'd put him on the patio. Well, he tore up the screening something awful trying to get outside. I must've replaced it 3 times. But thanks to my trusty watergun (everytime I saw him trying to climb the screen or whatever, I'd just zap him with it), he stopped tearing up the screen. And since the lady had decided not to get him fixed, we've had to deal with him spraying the couch and the wall when my other male cat is around. But that will be remedied soon because he's got an appt. to be fixed in 2 weeks. So again, until then, we use the watergun to deter him and we have some cleaner that takes away the odor and whatever staining there is. That to me is really the only nusiance with a cat...the spraying that a male does. I prefer female cats because of this, but I'm not one to turn away a cat if it's free...lol. Never really had problems with any strays or anything, at least nothing major. Just some cat fights in the middle of the night and a loud "meow" or two sometimes. But I can tolerate that because animals will be animals. lol Now what I really find annoying as all get out is the car alarm going off across the street every 10 minutes some nights. OMFG that drives me up a wall!! See, that's where I'm unsure. My cat is pretty badly cut up. I can't touch his head because it seems to hurt him, so I don't know if she did something to him or if it was the people at Animal Control since she told them he was an aggressive cat. I also don't know if he was attacked by something the night he disappeared or what. So on that one I'm up in the air. It could have been any number of things. He also could have done it himself, banging his head on the trap trying to get himself out.

    Revenge...

Well, yeah, I know how cats can be. lol I've had cats all my life, and currently have 3 now (plus a dog and a rabbit..lol). So yeah, they can be pains, but still they're so lovable. I don't know, maybe I just have more tolerance and patience for animals. I just still don't see why anyone would trap a cat (or dog) and refuse to find the owner, especially when the person knows the animal belongs to a neighbor. It would be different if the animal was a stray who was a nuisance. But we have very few of those around here, reasong being most of us end up adopting them as our own...lol. What really bothers me too, though, is that she is teaching this insane behavior to her kids. That's all we need - 3 more idiots treating cats like this. Anyway, this woman wasn't home yesterday when I went to speak with her so I will look for her later. If I don't see her, then I will just leave a note taped to her front door. And I will be as civil as possible, I promise...lol

    Revenge...

I got my kitty back!!!! And I was correct on my assumption of who the culprit was. Apparently, these matters are public record so Animal Control gave me a print out with her name, address, and phone number. She told them he's an aggresive cat, so they treated him as such and well, let's just say he's not himself. I am hoping that he will realize the trauma is over and go back his normal self. It also seems as though that they did not feed him or give him water while he was in isolation, which turns out to be a plastic box inside a cage. He was so hot when I grabbed him and held him. All he's done since being is the house is eat and drink. Ugh, I am so disgusted right now with this whole thing. I will be going to this moron's house later to express my concern for her stupidity, and subsequently will be knocking on neighbor's doors to warn them about her and her crappy attitude towards cats. If you don't like cats, fine, just shoo them away from your property. You don't have to be a total d*ck about it.
  11. Well so far MpegJoin has been the best. I'm not sure if they are Mpeg-1 files, but will check. If they are, I'll try out TMPGEnc. Thanks!

    Revenge...

LOL I love the restraining order and party flier ideas. See, I agree. But if the person who trapped the dog knows it's yours, then they should do the right thing and return it, not call Animal Control. We have a neighbor who has a big ol' lab/German shepard mix who is constantly getting out of his yard and going for a walk down the block. No one's ever trapped him or called Animal Control because there's no point. When we see him, we just bring him home. That's the kind of neighbor most of us are on this block. But I see there's a weed among us. My first course of action after I get my cat later is to go to the neighbors who have cats (especially outdoor cats) and warn them about her and the baited trap. I figure if enough of us stick together, we can start some trouble for her and hopefully get that trap removed. Sorry but you have to expect cats and dogs to come wandering by in any neighborhood, so the trap is highly unnecessary.

    Revenge...

Well, this is the first time it's happened. And I have a hard time believing he got down to her house by himself because he's not the type to wander (he's a scaredy cat) and her house is not very close to mine. The reason I believe it was a particular neighbor is because as I was driving around looking for my cat, I saw in her front yard a sign saying she has a cat trap in her yard and that if you believe your cat is missing to call Animal Control. And from what I've heard, she baits the trap, which I think is illegal. Either way, everyone around here knows each other's animals. And we are friendly with this particular neighbor to begin with. So what I'm trying to figure out is if she is the one who did it (and honestly, I do believe it was her), why didn't she just bring him home to me? Or call me to come get him? This whole thing just has me so pissed off right now. I go through 2 days of not knowing what happened to my cat, then I find him at the shelter and now have to pay to get him back all because of some moron. There's tons of animals on this street that can be big pains in the butt, but I'd never call Animal Control unless there was a genuine threat, and my cat is nowhere near any kind of threat. Grrrr I hate stupid people!!

    Revenge...

Well, maybe not revenge but still. Just out of curiosity, if any of you found out that a neighbor trapped a cat or dog (that turns out to be yours and they KNOW it's yours) and turned it over to Animal Services, what would you do? Would you confront the person? Would you beat the crap out of them? Or would you just let it rest and hope they don't do it again?
  15. Thanks you guys! I'll try 'em out.
  16. GnR and STP are kick ass bands; there's no doubt about that. But I also think Velvet Revolver is pretty damn good too. When their single Fall To Pieces came out in '04 (I think that was the year) I was kinda blown away. The music was a little different from what I'd expected, but sometimes different is good. And with me, this was one of those times. But maybe I'm the minority on that one. As for their new songs that are AOL, all I can say is Libertad is an album I'll most likely buy. I wish they had put up the entire song for "She Mine" rather than a snippet though because I'm really feelin' it. "She Builds Quick Machines" is good too. I'm bobbin' my head as I type this. But then again, maybe I'm just weird.
  17. Well CombiMove looked really good so I downloaded and installed it. And of course, I had a "special" problem that I can't figure out. I put my mpeg clips in the order I want them to be joined. I go to click the "Join" button but it won't let me. BUT if I put the files in all jumbled up, it's clickable. I looked in the help file thing and even tried another series of video clips and got the same result. Why do these things happen to me? LOL I'm thinking of renaming the files to see if that helps, but I'll do that tomorrow. It's bed-time for me. Thanks again for finding that program.
  18. Hey thanks! I'll give 'em a shot.
  19. Then just go rename the songs as song 1, song 2, etc. Every program you use will give a generic title if there is nothing specific for it to be named as. And each time you put in a new CD to rip, the process will start over again, hence the rewriting of previous tracks. If you intend to copy 2000 songs, you will have to start titling them yourself after they are copied.
  20. Well that sucks. I've never had any problems with MM and I've been using it for quite a few years. Did the songs not work on your player or was the quality real bad?
  21. Not sure what you've tried, but I use MusicMatch for ripping CDs. It self-titles the MP3 as long as the artist/song is in the MusicMatch database. If it's not, I give it my own title once the program is done copying. You can title any MP3 after it's written to your hard drive. You just have to locate the folder it's in, then right-click on the file name that's there and click *Rename* in the drop down menu.
  22. Does anyone know of a decent (freeware) MPEG joiner? I used to use CamelsMPEG joiner on my old PC, but for some reason it doesn't work on this one (maybe because it's not compatible with XP???). So I'm now using MpegMerge, but it's not as good as Camel's was. It causes too many pauses where the files were actually joined and the overall quality just doesn't seem as good as it should be. Any takers on this one?
  23. LOL thanks for the reminder. Luckily, I shopped early. I've been looking at her gifts for the past month and a half. haha
  24. Just the mere thought of some creepy crawly thing living in my ear gives me the heebie-jeebies. *shivers* Poor kid. Glad the doc got them out. He's got an interesting story to tell for the rest of his life though.
