  1. Better late than never............I was on a driving holiday.attachicon.gifThe Birdsville Pub Queensland.jpgattachicon.gifBirdsville Trip map.jpg

My June desktop shows my vehicle outside a very well known Out Back Pub, The Birdsville Hotel in Queensland, located some 1,585klm West of Brisbane and 40klm from the edge of The Simpson Desert National Park. I've just returned from a 3 week 4 x 4 driving trip to the Australian out back covering some 4,900klm by the time I got back home.

    That sounds amazing.  :)

  2. Finches (Gouldians, Forbes, Stars, Emblema, Zebra, Cordon) and small parrots (Fischer's and Masked Lovebirds); and I have Plum Head Parrots, Canaries and Musk Lorikeets on hold.

Wow you definitely have a variety!! And I bet those Parrots are gorgeous.

  3. my ex has a german shepherd: http://i.imgur.com/CpyK5Ny.jpg

She has two actually but the other one is terribly frightened of me and I never really got a picture of her

Awww I love German Shepherds. That one is beautiful. My cousin just got one. She's 8 weeks and a complete nut. I had to dog sit her on Sunday and didn't want to give her back. lol

  4. I can relate. In addition to my beagle, I have a collection of african tropical fish and a flock of birds nearing 50 specimens. I buy pet food by the pallet...

Wow. Ok you have me beat. lol What kinds of birds do you have?

  5. what is with all you cat people? :P

Cats are awesome! They're soft and cuddly and if you have cats like mine, they'll protect you from people you (they) don't like. Plus they're hilarious to watch when they get going playing, especially if you've given them catnip. And they're great hunters so you don't have to worry about mice or rats or anything in/around your house. AND they are very independent. You can put out two or three bowls of food and water and go away for a weekend without having to worry about anything.

I love dogs, too. I'm one of the lucky ones who can say they're neither a "cat person" or "dog person" since I love them both equally and have always had both all my life...along with rabbits, birds, fish, turtles... I really do need my own farm. haha

  6. Thank you Lulu, login123 ,Winapp2.ini for your kind words and to Kas for starting the thread,

and Lulu you have a similar coloured cat !!

    Thanks again

I do! And my old cat was even much more similar in appearance than my current one. I will have to try to find a picture...

  7. LuLu,

i think that my  special bond  with my  dogs is because I have no children and each one of my dogs became as dear to me as any son or daughter are to other people. Their loss was exactly the same to me.

Makes sense. Animals are better than kids anyway.  :)

  8. LuLu, this may sound odd to most people, but although I have lost parents, a wife, all my Aunts and Uncles, plus some very close friends, the memories which haunt me every single day and each night are those of my beloved dogs.

I just cannot shake them off and I have no doubt that they will follow me to the grave. It is not the many treasured and happy years they gave me which should dominate my mind, but the memory and circumstances of their deaths.

I guess that is the price I have to pay for all the pleasure they gave me. A kind of pay-back time.

I don't think it's odd at all, to be honest. Not a day goes by that I don't think about the ones I've lost, especially my dog Mandy who ended up dying due to that melamine issue with Pedigree dog food some years ago (not sure if you had ever heard about that). Of all the happy memories I have of her, my mind always wanders to her last few weeks and how horrible things were for her. So I totally get what you're saying here.

  9. I live in Australia and our spiders tend to grow rather large. I've had pet birds killed and eaten by spiders. I don't fear them, so much as respect their frightening disregard for life.

That makes one of us.  I do fear them, especially if they are too big to stomp on.

  10. @ LuLu

"To those of you who mentioned losing pets, I'm sorry.   It's never easy. There is no joy greater than that from a beloved pet. "

LuLu, you`ve said it all. There is not a single human relationship, past or present that has not suffered ups and downs. With a dog or any other animal, such an unpredictable nature does not exist. It is 100% pure love, dedication  and  affection.

I love your menagerie, they are a superb collection of cuddles.

    You are exactly right.

And thanks! Even though they all drive me crazy, I love each and every one of them and wouldn't trade them for anything.

  11. To those of you who mentioned losing pets, I'm sorry.  :( It's never easy. There is no joy greater than that from a beloved pet.

And with that being said, here's my current collection lol...

  12. It's hard to go wrong with macabre! :)

    For real!

As long as it's not firemen but images like this

    marine2.jpg

    I think it might work ;) .

Oh no, it would definitely not be an image like that. LOL   :P

  13. LuLu, I remember you mentioned being a fan of Greg Lake around Christmas time, so here's ELP's album cover from "Brain Salad Surgery", courtesy of H.R. Giger. Does she qualify as a woman or a skull? Or both?

I don't recall saying that lol but as far as this pic is concerned, I'll go with both.
