  1. It isn't a bug (or at least not a serious one.)

If CCleaner shows that there is nothing to remove in the "Cleaner" tab when all the browsers are closed, it means all the cookies (that are there to be deleted) are deleted.

Cookies to Delete, basically lists the recent cookies CCleaner has detected and allows you to move them to "Cookies to Keep"

No biggie. Welcome to the forums :)

  2. I had asked Softpedia to review CCleaner just for the heck of it, and they did. The last time they reviewed it was when it was in BETA stage of v1!

    The Good

You can choose the portable version in order to skip the installation process. The interface is straightforward and easy to use.

It is flexible when it comes to cleaning junk files as it offers the possibility to define which files should be included in the process and which should be skipped.

Advanced secure file wipe algorithms are included, such as NSA standard or Peter Gutmann which features 35 passes.

    The Bad

Registry cleaning needed at least a second pass to clean the items it detected at the first analysis. The uninstaller brings no special features to the table. The system restore manager only lets you view some details about each entry and remove it.

    The Truth

CCleaner is a handy tool that can help a lot with upping system performance. It moves fast and is safe to use. Secure deletion features ensure that no data it wipes can be retrieved.

Despite its downside, CCleaner remains a reliable instrument when it comes to getting your system back in shape.

  3. mr don, you write a lot. Please stay on topic

    Back to the topic...

You shouldn't really bother cleaning the HDD once you're on the SSD. You may right click on the HHD drive on "My Computer" and use Disk Cleanup which should suffice as you're not using it as your default drive anyway! You could defrag the HDD once in two months as well.

I'd say move all your documents, things rarely used, pictures, movies to the HDD and that's about it.

    Just my 2 cents.

  4. Yes parts are (cookies, cache and probably history) but this topic is exploring ccleaner cleaning new features introduced by ie9, which as hazel said will occur when ie9 RTM or RTP happens. To note, I'm pretty sure opera 10 beta was NOT included in ccleaner without the aid of winapp2.ini file

MrG announced it like that "Support for Opera 10 BETA."

  5. Wait so are you suggesting that for the cleaner section you have something like is there for registry?

<_< not so sure that'd work what with the fact that there can be thousands of internet cache alone

for instance I just booted my computer, this is the only page i've been to and I already have 914 temporary internet files

most people don't understand t.i.f.s enough to know that they are all ok to delete and so they'd be going through a checking each one.

No, all the temp files are grouped under one... so from the 'results' you can check everything you want to remove. For example, everything except the 'Recycle Bin'.

  6. Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen set up an hour long secret meeting to discuss a variety of topics, including a possible acquisition of Adobe by Microsoft. According to The New York Times, some of the discussions focused on how the two companies could also take down Apple's mobile market share.

As Apple continues to dominate the mobile market, with Google quickly catching up, Microsoft is stepping into the mobile game, possibly a little too late to make a strong impact within the next year. However, that hasn't stopped Microsoft from doing whatever it can to make the largest impact possible.

The discussions between Microsoft and Adobe have remained quiet, but sources say that talks regarding Microsoft acquiring Adobe were mentioned. Discussions of a possible merger might even end here, but this is pause for thought for both Microsoft and Adobe, after all, this is how Microsoft came about a search deal with the second largest search giant, Yahoo!

When Microsoft launched Silverlight in 2007, they became a direct competitor of Adobe Flash. If Microsoft does acquire Adobe, we could eventually see a slow phase out of Adobe Flash Player, and see Microsoft Silverlight slowly take its place. With Microsoft holding 100% of the market, Apple and Google could potentially be in trouble, unless web developers decide to adopt HTML5.
