CCleaner 2.0 beta is coming out very shortly, so we thought it would be good idea to give everyone a list of what they can expect in this new release.

The download will be out in a matter of days, we're just ironing out a few known issues.

    • Complete rebuild in C++
With the requirements for a portable version, 64-bit compatibility and Windows Vista increasing against the limitations of the old architecture. We decided to rebuild the entire CCleaner application in highly optimized C++.

    • Faster analyzing and cleaning
Each scanning process was rewritten from scratch and fully optimized. The result being a noticeable speed increase in all areas.

    • Portable
CCleaner can now run from a USB thumbdrive and be installed/run on a computer without a complicated setup process.

    • Compact
The rewrite removed all external file dependencies, so the main EXE is now half the size of the original program and support files.

    • Redesigned User Interface
The original CCleaner user interface was looking a little dated, so the GUI was redesigned with a modern look, but without sacrificing speed or usability. New icons were created for the interface and the main program icon was updated with a more modern style.

    • Exclusions
It is now possible to specify files, folders and registry keys to ignore from the cleaning process.

    • Loads of little tweaks
Too numerous to mention them all separately, we've tried to improve CCleaner in all areas.

When it's released you will be able to download it from www.CCleaner.com.

  3. To keep you updated, the app will support FAT and NTFS, but won't support 98. It will be 2k and later only.

The reason behind this is the older OSs only count for 2% of the market, and the extra development required

on OSs prior to 2k is huge. It would essentially take us 3 times longer to get the product out. Thus I made the

(slightly reluctant) decision to not support those platforms.

  10. Is it possible to allow CCleaner to use the "Customized Setting" instead of the "Default Setting" when "Run CCleaner" function from Recycle Bin is used?

I rarely able to use the "Run CCleaner" function from the Recycle Bin because it will always delete everything from IE, Window Explorer, and System. It doesn't obey the setting I set in the "Cleaner Settings". For Example, most of the time I would like to keep my "Recent Typed URL" and the "Items" in the Recycle Bin; if I use the "Run Cleaner" from Recycle Bin, I will loss everything... :(

Please add this feature in CCleaner so that we can utilize the "Run CCleaner" function from the Recycle Bin more effectively in the future. ;)

This shouldn't be the case. Please retest, and post system information.

  11. July will be a busy month! :)

We're looking at releasing the first public beta of CCleaner v2.0.

Which will be smaller, faster and USB portable.

It's a complete rewrite in C++ with no external dependencies.

Additionally a final release of Recuva will be out, so no more beta status.

This will be dramatically faster and more reliable.

And finally... a surprise new software title! Which we've been working on in a secret lab.

    More details to follow soon...
