Racketeer Posted May 26, 2011 Share Posted May 26, 2011 In the process of daily maintenance I updated to the latest build of ccleaner today and ran it (from a script). Wondering why it took so long to clean, I opened the UI and was horrified to find that it was in the process of deleting my sandboxes!!! I checked ccleaners version history and found that it now supports Sandboxie - enabled by default. All my sandboxes are now - securely - deleted and a lot of work is GONE. Firstly, I have to agree and say that IMHO newly supported application checkboxes should be left to the user to activate. But saying that, users should also get into the habit of checking out the finer details of any software update, not just Piriform software. A good precautionary habit to adopt. I'm aware of at least one similar question being brought up previously regarding newly supported applications, so maybe the devs will take note of your experience and the previous poster. I found the new Sandboxie routine quite useful as I often clear out Opera's cache manually from a Sandbox for various reasons, and CCleaner didn't delete the entire Sandbox in my case. But besides the cache, it also clears the "automatic session save", "global_history.dat" and "typed_history.xml" files. These are things people may not want deleting if they were running (for example) Opera without a Sandbox. The devs do read these posts and will I'm sure take note of your comments. Fluffy Posted June 3, 2011 Share Posted June 3, 2011 Hi Folks can someone just clarify for me what CCleaner is cleaning in relation to Sandboxie when it is selected ? is it just the contents of the sandbox? which sanbox deletes anyway or is it part of the sandbox program hope i`ve mad myself clear ! login123 Posted June 3, 2011 Share Posted June 3, 2011 Running ie8 here. CCleaner deletes the contents of the sandbox only. It leaves behind the folder "C:\Sandbox\Compaq_Owner\DefaultBox" but the folder is empty. When I just ran it while still connected to the net, CCleaner did not touch the sandboxed files that were in use. So you don't get kicked off the net. :-) The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-) Pssssst: ... It isn't really a cloud. It never gets to see the real system. In other words people who have sandboxes they never delete (because they don't want to, or want ccleaner to) Applies to the paid version of sandboxie really.
