Both SM and Performance Optimiser are trying to optimise your computer in the background, they are trying to do the same kind of things and so are tripping over each other. Does CCleaner's PO work if you temporarily disable System Mechanic ? https://support.iolo.com/support/solutions/articles/44002226353-disable-system-mechanic-background-processes In the end I think that you will have to choose to use one or the other, but not both at the same time.
