valkrider
I'm using a Windows 10 desktop. Been using the free version of CCleaner for years. Upgraded to the pro version. Now some apps and files won't open. I uninstalled CCleaner and the files would then open. Am I missing something?
Moderators nukecad Posted August 20, 2023 Moderators Share Posted August 20, 2023 Obviously that shouldn't happen. Can you say which apps wouldn' open? If not Defender then which AV are you using and what version is it at? Have you used CCleaners Performance Optimizer to put apps to sleep? *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Worried about why some files come back after cleaning? valkrider
Firefox and Word documents wouldn't open. Using defender. I know we did use the Performance Optimizer to put apps to sleep. I thought they were supposed to wake up when needed.
Moderators nukecad Posted August 22, 2023 Moderators Share Posted August 22, 2023 They are supposed to awaken when needed, but it's all I could imagine in CCleaner that might be causing the problem that you describe. Check if you have Firefox and Word as 'Sleeping' in PO. Have you reinstalled CCleaner, if you do then do you see the same thing again? You can download an installer here: https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds You will need to enter your key again to re-register it as Pro. (Ignore the version number it's currently showing, that's not been changed, it will download the latest installer for v6.15). CCleaner doesn't block things from running, it's a cleaner not an AV. If it happens again once you have CCleaner reinstalled, then can you give more details of just what is happening. ie. How are you launching Firefox/Word?, what happens when you try?, or doesn't happen that you would expect? Just to ask: Do you have Smart Cleaning enabled? If so what are the settings? *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Worried about why some files come back after cleaning?
