luc Benton
I have a solid state drive will this program shorten the life of this drive?
Gildur
Yes, it will. Defragmentation process uses a lot of reading-writing steps. Solid State Drives are limited in number of this steps, so it will shorten it's life. Try to avoid defragmenting SSD. The performance is not a problem with this type of drives, even when it's fragmented.
nikki605
Back in January, I purchased a new laptop that came with an SSD. In February, I replaced the HDD in my desktop system with an SSD. I don't even have Defraggler installed on either machine. Both systems automatically run the TRIM function periodically.
