Being somewhat brain dead due repeated blows to my head from my wife of 20+ years of marriage and not completely computer literate.(or literate at all sometimes these days) I wondering that when you run a scan with Recuva can best to search for specific software?

I'm not sure I entirely understand the question.

Are you asking is it better to do a search filter before you scan? If so, no it's better to run the scan then fill in the search/filter box

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
