RTL434
I have used CCleaner Professional for years now with no problems updating. The last couple of updates that have been released have failed to automatically install. They give an error as shown in attached. In the FAQs I found the explanation that one has to be the Administrator-----I am logged in as an Administrator. I have licences for 5 PC's (family members) and it is the same on all 5 P.C.s. This error now means I have to uninstall the current version and then download/install the Free version, untick the install Avast antivirus and reapply licences. Also have to save the ini file to prevent having to restore cookies I want to keep. It all seems to have happened since the Windows 10 April Update, but that might have nothing to do with it. This is turning into a painful process given that there might be an update monthly!!! As I stated---the updating worked perfectly previously. Moderators Nergal Posted May 24, 2018 Moderators Share Posted May 24, 2018 Usually this is caused by ccleaner still running (such as monitoring). if there are no instances in task manger then you may need to uninstall and reinstall ccleaner. First you'd uninstall it then check the ccleaner folder for any file that is left such as ccleaner.exe delete those remainders (except ccleaner.ini if it exists (that's your preferences if it's there)) then try to install and enter your pro key ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Hansemann
Have the same problem. The installer should handle this - indeed a bug.
RTL434
Found my answer in this posting by Ebcus. Thanks. I run Malwarebytes and it recently updated to 3.5.1 which has introduced the problem. I temporarily disabled the Ransomware Protection and clicked on the Update now. Everything proceeded as it used to do and CCleaner updated finel. Guest Stephen CCleaner
We've been in contact with MWB regarding this. Please let me know if it the issue still occurs.

Please let me know if it the issue still occurs. Since MWB haven't yet released the update to fix this, then the problem is still there. I have no problems in using the "temporary fix" they give, as in my case, CCleaner is the only program that is affected. All the other programs I use update fine. I'm quite happy to wait on the update from MWB.
