jengr2015
I am using windows 8.1 and I was wondering how long a scan should take? The scan stays on internet explorer history for quite a while and then it moves very quickly. My scans are taking 24 seconds. Is this normal? Should I clear cache in internet explorer first? Is there something that I could do to make it scan faster? Why does it get hung up on internet explorer for so long? I don't even use internet explorer. Moderators Andavari Posted February 24, 2018 Moderators Share Posted February 24, 2018 It's because of the changes Microsoft made to Internet Explorer awhile back. It takes a long time on Windows 10 too, and there's no way around it - other than unticking/disabling the cleaning of Internet Explorer and Edge. Although you state you don't use Internet Explorer your operating system does for History, etc. Also many programs that auto-update including many anti-virus, etc., will use Internet Explorer's Temporary Internet Files ("cache") for downloading the updates, cookies, CryptnetUrlCache, DOMStore , etc.
