Bridge Network

Hi, I have three computers. Two are Wireless and one is Wired. We have a ADSL 645Series modem/Router and a NetGear MR814V.2 Wireless/Cable 4-Port Router.

I am trying to bridge the two Routers. Do I have to have one Wireless and one Wired connection Eabled? I need to know cause Mine and my Mom's computer are on Wireless but I can bring the Modem and Router to my computer and have mine Wired and have my brothers run on Wireless.

I'm not quite sure what to enter when I bridge. However, I do understand that I will need my Account Info. cause our ISP "Sprint" Requires Log-In. And If I'm right Should I copy my IP Address from the Modem by going into the Modem config. status page?

Right now are Connection is messed up and I just found out that are Modem is a Router or... somewhat one. I was told by our ISP that it needed bridged cause they saw that we were having Connection drops on us. They tested us and they found the problem. I'm the Computer network guy at the house so... I'm having to do all of it. I can't trust my ISP as they have some dumb people who don't know crap!

Well, hope you can help...

My "experience" in this field is limited to one or two remote instances, but what the heck.

The way I did it was use the IP address given to me in the CMD, using the command ipconfig /all.

The following is an excerpt from the guide I used, which I think does in a way relate to your question... if not...sorry =/ [btw hamachi is just a Virtual LAN, so consider it a regular LAN... hope this helps]

1. Click Start then Run. Type in "cmd" without quotes (might be "command" without quotes on older versions of Windows) and click ok. In the black Window type ipconfig /all and write down what it has for your IP address, default gateway and DNS servers. Load Up Hamachi and power it on, then open up Network Connections.

2. Right click on your Hamachi connection and left click properties and go into the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties. Click Advanced button down the bottom right, then click the WINS tab up the top. Put the dot on "Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP". Click OK, OK then Close.

3. Right click on Local Area Connection and left click properties and do the same as the previous step - Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.

4. Make sure Hamachi is powered on. Then select Local Area Connection and Hamachi together and right click on one of them then click bridge connections.

5. When the bridge is made, right click on the bridge and left click properties. Go into the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties. Put the dot on use the following IP Address. Put in your ip address from before. Would be something like 192.168.1.2 or 192.168.1.100 in my case, depends on your ADSL modem. Click on Subnet Mask and it should auto put the number in (something like 255.255.255.0). Put in the default Gateway from before - this is your router ip, again this differs depending on which ADSL modem you have. Also put in your dns settings. In my case I only have to put in the preferred DNS server which is the same number as the default gateway for me. Depends on what it shows for you when you did the ipconfig /all earlier. Next click the advanced button. Up the top it will already have one ip addresses there. Click on Add, and put in your Hamachi ip, then click the subnet mask box and it should put a number there automatically - something like 255.0.0.0 then click Add. Then click OK, click OK, click OK.
