DanyBo
I noticed this first on previous clean-up. I rarely use Internet Explorer and yet: After analyzing CCleaner tells me there are 2.076 Temporary Internetfiles (93.592kb) - See screenshot When I look at details I see the files (see second screenshot) that are all located in T:\Ietemp\Temporary InternetFiles\Content.IE5. When I look at the given location T:\Ietemp the map is empty - and yes my explorer is set to showing hidden files
Moderators Andavari Posted September 28, 2017 Moderators Share Posted September 28, 2017 Perhaps try cleaning with the tool built into IE and/or Disk Cleanup in Windows, and then return to CCleaner and see if it detects anything different after that. DanyBo
Sorry Andavari Got no notification of your answer. Tried it again first cleaning with IE cleanup and still CCleaner finds a lot. I never use IE. For Firefox, that I use constantly nothing is found
Moderators Augeas Posted November 5, 2017 Moderators Share Posted November 5, 2017 I use FF exclusively and I have some IE temp interner files also. Try looking at the expanded list and right clicking on one and select Open Containing Folder, and you should see the files. I don't bother about these, CC cleans them. It's just the way that Windows works, in mysterious ways one could say.
DanyBo
OK thanks Augeas. I was blaming CCleaner but I should have been blaming Windows.
Moderators Andavari Posted November 5, 2017 Moderators Share Posted November 5, 2017 One thing though is the folder path you listed in your first post "T:\Ietemp" is a non-default path. By default IE stores Temporary Internet Files in your user profile. Only noteworthy because in the past like many, many years ago moving where it stores files had the potential of possibly causing issues.
DanyBo
Andavari, You're right. I always move the Temp folders to another partition. Never had any problems there.
