isabelladonofrio
My work computer was running incredibly slow so I was running CCleaner and uninstalling multiple programs at once and clicked the wrong one due to scrolling lag and I accidentally deleted a very expensive program in the process. Is there any way for me to recover this?? I tried doing a system restore but it didn't replace the program. I'm desperate now, the program is $500. I still have my activation codes and licensing folders but the program won't open.
Archlinux
Which app are we speaking of? You could probably redownload it (or ask the manufacturer to provide you with a copy after giving your details), but you could also try Piriform's own Recuva. It doesn't recover the item name to the uninstaller menu, but it can recover un-overwritten individual files.
Moderators mta Posted March 22, 2015 Moderators Share Posted March 22, 2015 As you have found, System Restore will not do what you want, that's not its job. And Recuva, while in theory may work, it will be difficult for it/you to know all the files needed to be recovered for the deleted software. Why not just reinstall it? For that price you should still have the installation CD's or the downloaded install files. You have all the required keys, so I reckon that will be your path of least resistance. Don't suppose you do any system image snapshots? That would give you another avenue to restore from. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. Moderators Andavari Posted March 23, 2015 Moderators Share Posted March 23, 2015 Recuva won't restore registry settings, so even if it and you could locate what files were removed you'd more than likely still have to reinstall the software.
