CCleaner cleaning more

Recommended Posts

I use CCleaner version 4.01.4093 every night at closedown. Generally it cleans out about 45Mb but recently it has starting cleaning out about 130/135Mb.

I have not changed any of the settings.

Any reason known?

I am using IE with XP

@johnoo, have you tried doing Analyze before a Run Cleaner to see if it shows where the increase is coming from?

Backup now & backup often.

Will try to do this tonight, but have not got any records of previous cleaning cycles

when your previous cleaning cycles had done, if you looked at the report it gives stating what it found, you may have a 'feel' for what it used to find, compared that to what it is finding now.

something may stick out.

Do you have "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 24 hours" ticked in CCleaner Options/Advanced?

Yes, this is Checked in Options/Advanced.

Just done a check at closedown, Total amount to be cleaned is 175.8Mb

Majority of this is IE Temp Files 114,462Kb & System Temp files 65,391Kb

I'm not concerned about the IE stuff, but I think it is a lot higher than a few weeks ago, any reason, as I have used the Internet about the same amount?

Also what are the System Temp Files, I have nothing in the Recycle Bin?

Hope somebody can help
