klumy
Hello, there is a $PatchCache$ directory in my WIndows 8 installer directory. Is it safe to delete this directory? It takes up to 600MB disk space. CCleaner (newest version)Windows
Moderators mta Posted November 11, 2012 Moderators Share Posted November 11, 2012 PatchCache has been around since XP and I believe it's used to store certain updates you get through Windows Updates. So although it can be deleted with seemingly no immediate effects, I think in the long term you may get Windows and other Microsoft problems (like with Office) when it comes to uninstalling/updating. a lot like those $NtUninstallKB files. in short, you could, but unless you really have to, leave them alone. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. Moderators Andavari Posted November 11, 2012 Moderators Share Posted November 11, 2012 Perhaps allow Windows 8 to be around longer before blindly deleting stuff from the OS folder!
