Moderators DennisD Posted June 8, 2011 Moderators Share Posted June 8, 2011 If you have any doubts about your drive, you could run Western Digital's "Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows" utility. This one is specific for your drive. http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=608&sid=3&lang=en Scroll down the page for all the details. There are also freeware utilities available to carry out a series of tests to ascertain it's condition. HD Tune: (Free Version) Crystal Disk Info: (Freeware) These give you a good, bad, healthy etc indication as to condition.
redhawk
05 Reallocated Sectors Count 200 (200) Data 000000000007 Seek Error Rate 100 (253) Data 0000000000 C4 Reallocation Event Count 200 (200) Data 0000000000 Data = 0000000000 = Good. While S.M.A.R.T does give you an indication of pending problems it cannot be solely relied upon. I would suggest you Benchmark test your hard drive with HD Tune and see if performance drops or gets worse over time. Richard S.
