When running Speccy from a usb drive it (speccy) tries to access the internet. I'm assuming this is a check for updates. Is there a way to stop this?

Speccy communicates with the piriform website to obtain your "External IP address".

 

There is no official way to prevent this however you can stop further communication by adding "127.0.0.1 speccy.piriform.com" (without quotes) to your Windows host file (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts).
