Tom AZ
I just ran Free Registry Defrag 3.0, which resulted in about 3% fragmentation. After defragging and optimizing, I ran CCleaner, which picked up approximate 50MBs to be deleted as a result of the defrag procedure. Apparently, "Free Registry Defrag" is in my winapp2.ini file. Are these entries simply a registry backup and safe to delete?
Moderators Andavari Posted July 26, 2010 Moderators Share Posted July 26, 2010 It just deletes what's in the backup folder where FRD put the old registry before the optimize, it's located here: C:\WINDOWS\$regcmp$ I'd say it's safe to let that winapp2.ini entry clean up after FRD simply because I don't know how "easy" FRD's backup would be to work from which is why I make an ERUNT backup and System Restore Point before using FRD. Tom AZ
Thanks, Andavari. that's what I assumed, but thought I'd check just to be sure. I, too, created an Erunt registry backup -- and I created a System Restore Point before defragging.
