Gar
Can someone tell me about this option? Is this the same thing that proprietary "complete delete" software does? Thanks for any help on this. Gar
Moderators Nergal Posted May 25, 2010 Moderators Share Posted May 25, 2010 This has been asked and answered a bunch but here is one of the answers http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=26901&st=0&p=161925&hl=wipe%20freespace&fromsearch=1entry161925 it's pretty useless and not recommended by most of the helpers here (myself included) unless you are about to sell the computer/harddrive ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Gar
Thanks, Nergal. Tried a search first but didn't come up with anything. Appreciate the response. Do you know if this is the same thing done by "complete delete" kinds of proprietary software? Gar
JDPower
Thanks, Nergal. Tried a search first but didn't come up with anything. Appreciate the response. Do you know if this is the same thing done by "complete delete" kinds of proprietary software? Gar Not sure what you mean by "complete delete" but I suspect the answer is yes, it is the same. It overwrites all the free space on your disk so that any files you've deleted with Windows own delete feature (as opposed to a third party secure deletion software) are unrecoverable. See the CCleaner docs for more info: http://docs.piriform.com/ccleaner/using-ccleaner/wiping-free-disk-space
