Odd File Fragments

Recommended Posts

1.18.185 Version

Having issues between the Installable Defraggler and the Portable.

The installable defraggler usually doesn't display these "bugs" if you will, but the portable one does.

1) "$MFT" "$Secure:$SDH" "$Secure:$SII" "$LogFile" always show up as fragmented although it says 0% fragmentation.

2) "Pagefile.sys" says its fragmented at 2 gigs, however, I pagefile.sys does not even exist as I have it disabled, and removed from my system.

Defraggler reports these files as being in folder "C:\" and when attempting to open the "Containing Folder" it shows up blank.

Did you enable the System Files and Folders view in Windows Explorer's Folder Options ? Pagefile.sys is a system file ;)

The files beginning with a $ are NTFS metadata, and can't be seen from the explorer. I think Defraggler excludes those files.

PS : The page file is there for a good reason. Unless you have _huge_ amounts of RAM, you shouldn't disable it.
