Doesn't work at all (Windows 7, USB HDD)

Recuva does not work for me (Win7, trying to restore files from 500GB USB HDD, Drive is only 30% full). Always halts at 73% during Stage 1 of 2: Scanning drive for deleted files.

If it helps, Glary undelete (http://www.glarysoft.com/gun.html) doesn't work either. It halts at 34%.

Fortunately, Restoration still works for me. You can download it here: http://tinyapps.org/downloads/rest2514.exe

Thanks,

Have you considered running recuva in debug mode and attaching the log here for the devs to see.

It could help them

I just did and let it run for more than 3 hours. Still the same effect, except it went in couple of minutes to 99% (see the image) and hanged there. Recuva becomes unresponsive and the process must be killed in order to exit Recuva.

BTW, there's an error in that documentation. The debug log file resides in "C:\Users\<user_id>\" directory instead of the installation directory.

Glary undelete, instead, responds to cancel command, and then let's you try to restore the files it has found.

Yes they do., but sometimes there is no report to that effect, either because they are busy looking into it, or they are busy looking another problem a user has reported.

They do their best :)

I had a problem reinstalling recuva, It downloaded and seemed to install but when i clicked on the desktop shortcut, a window flashed then disappeared

I read a thread on this forum (which I couldn't find again) that suggested to run in safe mode'

I did, went to folder ran innstall, it did and now runs when I restart normally.

the person complaining in the thread should have tried it. worked for me.

By the way I did install it before and ran it before without any problems. That was when I still had Mcaffee suite that came with AOL. Since then I dropped that and am now using Comodod free firewall with Avast free AV. ( MY opinion much better than McAfee). also have install threatfire

In both cases I always have been using for years WinPatrol and Spybot Search and Destroy. Would run a computer without them. AND CCleaner has been one of my tools to rely on since it was known by its' previous name crapcleaner.

Good stuff Thanks.

wish I could contribute but right now going through tough times. Once I get back on my feet, well you will be thought of. Thanks again
