TeeJay3800
I recently noticed an item in my Add/Remove Programs list called Java 6 Update 7. I tried running the uninstaller but consistently get an error. After confirming that Update 7 is not actually still installed, I attempted to use CCleaner to remove that entry from the list, but get the error shown below. Is this normal, or am I experiencing a problem? Dell Latitude D600 Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit SP1
Moderators Andavari Posted August 7, 2009 Moderators Share Posted August 7, 2009 Use JavaRa to make sure it's really off your system. Then for the MSI reference being broken use Microsoft's Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
TeeJay3800
Thanks! I had already used JavaRa to confirm that it was gone, and that MS utility worked perfectly. Am I correct in assuming that that utility can only remove MSI entries and not other types of installers? There is another outdated entry I'd like to remove, that does not appear in the utility's list. Moderators Andavari Posted August 9, 2009 Moderators Share Posted August 9, 2009 It only works with MSI installers to my knowledge. Old unusable uninstall links showing in Add/Remove can be deleted via CCleaner's built in Uninstall tool. Just make a registry backup first for safety purposes. Edit: Since you have that Windows Installer Cleanup Utility installed you may want to try out MsiZap too, as detailed here.
