I'm not sure how what or why this is happening, but when running the wipe free space function on the CCleaner it is placing large files onto my C drive and literally flooding it. One alone is using 191 GB and the other is using 29.3 GB. I tried to delete them but it keeps telling me "An unexpected error is preventing the operation. Make a note of this error code, which might be useful if you get additional help to resolve this problem: Error 0x80070570: The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable." It is also telling me I need permission to perform this action when attempting to delete the files. one of the files is: 3590F75ABA9E485486C100C1A9D4FF06CCPEGBLHBILPZAIG 191 GB (205,565,198,336 bytes), the other file is similar but reads:

3590F75ABA9E485486C100C1a9D4FF06BJPFDWJYWKACRORB 29.3 GB (31,514,820,608 bytes). I tried uninstalled CCleaner but it did not make a difference. I cannot remove these files. I'm not sure what else to do besides completely wipe the entire hard drive and I have many important files I don not want to lose. Please help!!

Am I the only person who has ran into this issue?

Well, two hours between posts is not really enough time to start worrying, especially as most of Europe is still asleep. The search function will show others who have noticed this.

Filling your disk with large files is how CC, and most disk washers, work. Are you trying to delete them when CC is running? If you are you shouldn't be. CC will fill the disk and then delete all the large files, leaving you with a disk completely overwritten with zeroes. CC wipe free space is something that really should be left to complete on its own.

If CC has finished (and it will take some time depending on the size and state of your disk) then these files should be relatively straightforward to find - they all have large junk names, live in the c directory, and have a create date of CC run time - and should be deletable. If not post back here, now that we've had our breakfasts.

Wasn't this issue fixed by letting CCleaner run and finish the wipe freespace clean/routine?

What is the Chkdsk utility?

Here's how to:

On the "My Computer" window, right-click the harddrive, select properties, tools, error checking.

Make sure that you select "Automatically fix errors" and "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors".

Try using command line to delete it.

I had a problem when i restored some backups today..they were encrypted files but i didnt have then encrytion key and it was a pain in the bum to delete the entire lot..had to use command line. (500 files) Found a quicker way..drag them into a folder...then delete them.

If Vista or above..make sure your an administrator, right click, properties..security and mess around with the permissions.

Hope this helps!
