Changing Secure Deletion Options has no effect

Recommended Posts

I've clicked the "Secure File Deletion(Slower)" button and selected each of the options in the drop down, but no matter what I select CCleaner just does a simple overwrite (1 pass). Am I doing something wrong? I've just downloaded and installed the latest version from the website 2.16.830.

Thanks in advance...

HG.

Welcome headley

Maybe they have fixed the multiple pass feature?

What makes you think that you're only getting one pass? Is it the time it takes, or what's left in the file after deletion?

When I run the cleaner it says

"333.3MB removed.

Secure file deletion enabled - Simple Overwrite (1 pass)"

No matter what the setting of security option it always has the above message (obviously the number of bytes changes).

HG

I have changed my secure delete to 7 passes and analysed and then deleted temp files. On both analysis and deletion CC stated 7 pass used. Does your analysis say multiple pass or one overwrite?
