Recuva won't scan external drive

I want to scan an external drive with the letter I:

Windows can see the drive, and there is nothing wrong with the HD. Still Recuva won't perform a scan.

If I choose to scan the drive with the letter I: and press "Start" the program takes me straight to the result page, without performing a scan. Changing to the advanced mode, there is no letter I: to choose. The only drives I can choose are A, C and D.

Why doesn't it work?

Welcome to Piriform Magnus.

I'm not sure why that is. The only external drives that I have are flash drives (F:) and it works perfectly on those.

I would have thought thats MrG would have programmed the Drive ListBox to check for all available drives.

In mine I have an (All Drives) option have you tried that one? ;)

Hi! :)

Thanks for a quick answer.

Yes, I've tried "All drives" but that only scans the A, C and D drive.

The I: drive is working fine and I can access it everywhere in Windows. The only program that can't see the drive is Recuva. It is a bit frustrating because I really think that Recuva would recover some files I moved from the disc onto a HD that now has crashed ... :(
