BobW
This problem is due to my ignorance certainly, but bear with me because I'm old and not particularly savvy. I had a problem with Civilisation version 4 which wouldn't uninstall. Uninstall would just "have a problem" and then close. Due to another problem I eventually did it clean reinstall of Windows X. V. professional. When I began to install my programs again, Civilisation 3 (I had sort of given up on four) stalled, froze, and I am left with half a game on my computer, which uninstaller claims to have uninstall but when you look the files are still there. Someone recommended I clean it up with CCleaner. Okay -- I could do with some sort of registry cleaner type thing anyway so I download and try to uninstall. It just seems to run the normal Windows UnInstaller program? Which had the same result, program allegedly uninstall but still there. I would really like to install version 4 but am scared the same problem will arise. Obviously the advice was wrong or I'm doing something wrong here? Went through the online tutorial of course but it doesn't say a great deal about problems like these. Could anyone please help. I'm beginning to feel like an addict without a drug. Jamin4u
Hi, I have recommended Revo Uninstaller which is Freeware. It worked great for the person in the same boat you are. This program was recommended by a trusted member on another forum. He uses it in advanced mode, which runs the built-in uninstaller and also cleans up files and the registry (most thorough). Just find the icon then click uninstall then chose the level of cleanup. There are four options when you uninstall. 1) Runs the built-in uninstaller 2) Safe 3) Moderate 4) Advanced . Always backup and set a restore point. Good Luck, Jamin4u http://www.revouninstaller.com/ Welcome to the forum! Moderators Andavari Posted July 12, 2008 Moderators Share Posted July 12, 2008 Before you attempt to reinstall the game look to see if they have any update patch on the official game website, which may or may not address some of the issues.
