Hello,

First off here are my details

CCleaner 2.07.575

Windows XP Home SP2

When I try to uninstall a program I get the error:

Error: 5 - Access is denied.

and when I click "Delete Entry" under Tools>Startup it doesn't remove the item.

Is there any way to fix this?

Cheers,

Hi alien,

Unless there is some sort of "bug",someone or something is watching out for you.It could be the "administrator" of your PC,Windows itself,or the "spirits" themselves.

You may already know this but others will not.

See this corresponding link.

As you can see there is more to the Tools feature than you may first assume.

If you try to "uninstall" something that is protected by administrative policy or Windows itself you will most likely get the message that you did.

Using the Delete button in the Tools feature is only to be used in "rare" circumstances.

If you actually want to uninstall something you need to follow what is advised in the previous link.

Do not use the Tools feature unless you absolutely know what you are doing and the procedures that you should perform before doing so.

Use this link to advise you on what to do for Start-up entry items. It will help you greatly.

Best wishes,

:) davey Maybe the Piriform "spirits" are watching out for you. :Phttp://www.ccleanerbeginnersguide.com/

alien13, welcome.

Are you running as a Limited User Account?

How many users on this system?

Hey,

Thanks for the welcome and the great replys!

I'm the administrator on my computer and there are no other users.

It's a possibility that COMODO firewall is stopping CCleaner from uninstalling apps and removing from startup.

An AIO program I made that can remove items from startup is able to so it's either CCleaner isn't allowed access or there is a bug(doubt it).

Cheers for the help,

alien13
