chkdsk utility problem

Recommended Posts

I am seeing a new message when I run the CC cleaner. As follows: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temp\WER9a16.dir00 is corrupt and unreadable run the chkdsk utility. I cannot find the chkdsk utility and therefore do not know how to run it. Does anyone have a solution? I have the latest version.

Thanks.

That file is in a Temp directory so you may be able to manually delete it, if not give Unlocker a try to delete it.

  1. How to run chkdsk to fix file errors:
  2. Click Start->Run->Type in: chkdsk /f c:
  3. Select Y for yes to have chkdsk run on the next system startup, then restart Windows because you can't perform chkdsk on the partition where Windows is installed while it's actively running.

  1. If you don't like messing with command parameters you can also run chkdsk by:
  2. Going into My Computer
  3. Right click your hard drive and select Properties->Tools
  4. Then under Error Checking click Check Now.
  5. The option to tick is Automatically fix file system errors, then restart Windows because you can't perform chkdsk on the partition where Windows is installed while it's actively running.
