I have Media Player Classic installed. Does that mean I can delete Windows Media Player from my system?

NO!

WMP is actually a system component. Meaning some of the stuff it installs like WMV and WMA are used by other software you install. I believe it may give off some bells and whistles and sound an alarm if you attempt to uninstall it, anyways I remember it doing that back in my Win98 days. Although you can if you really want to get rid of it, but you'd need to install some Windows Media redistribution package so audio players, etc., can function with some of the formats.
