Is there any software that can stop others on my network from seeing what I'm doing on the internet?
Thanks
-
It seems SPAM has increased dramatically. I use Thunderbird with the SPAM filter but continue to receive a large amount of un-wanted SPAM.
Is there any way (software) to stop or at least limit it?

I use Foxfire & Thunderbird exclusively. I never have problems with viruses or spyware because of Mozilla and the software recommended here. Do I still need to update Windows?
-
Is there software that can trace back an e-mail to the computer it was sent from? Or is it even possible?
-
I got a little confused with the posting of new topics.
I just downloaded Superantispyware and ran a scan. Fortunately I use Firefox and Thunderbird along with Spywareblaster and Spybot so it didn't find anything to worry about. But I will continue to use it as part of the war on terror . . . whoops spyware.
Thanks

I've seen someone on this forum has recommended Superantispyware. Is it worth having and is it better than Spybot, Adaware, Spywareblaster . . . or should it be added to the arsenal?
Thanks

I just downloaded the slim version and am still getting the YAHOO tool bar!
What can I do to delete it?

Has anyone had problems trying to download Spybot updates or log on to Spybot's website lately?
I've been getting a error message which reads:
Error retrieving update info file!
Socket Error #10060
Connection timed out.
And I have not been able to log on to Spybot's web site
Thanks

After downloading the "beta" version with secure delete, how far back will it securely delete? Will it only delete the latest history or will it go all the way back to everything you have looked at on the web?
Thanks
-
Now that Secure Delete has been added to CCleaner when is the best time to set CCleaner to run?
At start up . . .
OR
At Shut down?
Thanks

Beta Definition:*Possible bugs that make screw

The last software testing phase before a production rollout
Right Here Padner--->
download right over the top of the existing version
OK . . . great . . . thanks for the help.
How much longer before the "fully-tested" version comes out?

Excuse me for not being an expert on computers . . .
But what is the Beta version?
I searched for the latest update and got a message saying I had the latest version . . . but it's not the Beta one.
Do I need something special to download the new version . . . or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks
-
Ah, never used Enterprise. It's new and mainly for networks.
<bad checksum>
I believe that's because so many people are trying to download updates. I've had that problem and had to download later and the download worked.

How do spamers get my e-mail address? I have Thunderbird with junk mail controls which sends them to my junk folder once they are "learned" but they still come into my e-mail "in box" then transferred to junk.
However, I continue to get other spam which I have to teach Thunderbird.
Is there a way to completely stop unwanted e-mail from even arriving in my in-coming box?
Thanks

I am running Outpost Free on Windows 98 and it is working fine. No crashes or glitches and prompts me when I am adding some new program.
-
So now that Firefox 1.5 is out, is every body happy with it? Are there any "bugs" still to be worked out. I hear there are some problems with themes. Should I wait a bit before downloading . . . or is it good to go?

First check for changes in:
Display Properties > Settings - Screen Resolution
Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > General - Display - DPI Setting
Okay . . . but what am I looking for to determine what the settings should be?
-
Somehow my display settings have changed. My desktop looks different, almost a little blurry and the icons take up more space.
My internet message area (Thunderbird) is more compact and the usual amount of area space is much reduced. Mozilla's area is also much reduced and compact and I cannot see all of the text area. It's almost as if my computer is in SAFE MODE but it does not say so when I start up. Normally I have a choice whether to start in normal, safe mode, or something other. Still it seems to be running in SAFE MODE.
Windows 98
AVG
Spyware Blaster
Spybot
Mozilla/Thunderbird
Any ideas how I can get my display back to how it used to be?
Thanks

I deactivated it by right clicking, then tried ADD/REMOVE but it would not be uninstalled. I then manually deactivated all internet and email parts, downloaded AVAST and its working.
Hopefully there will be no conflict between the two.
Thanks!
-
have you tried turning it off and deleting it from add/remove as suggested? seems like the best route to me. Good luck, and let us know.
-
And the best is . . . and why?
-
I did see AVG's instruction about re-installing to un-install, but the re-installing takes 1 hr & 30 minutes, (I have dial up).
There's got to be a quicker way.

I'm not sure if anyone is EVEN looking at my use. Not that I have anything to hide. I use CC to get rid of my tracks.
Just want to take precautions if I'm surfing instead of working.
