  1. I have a hardware one built into my router, but only use the windows built in software firewall. I tried a bunch, and to be honest, I found that so much of the security stuff out there was as bad as the malware for slowing things down and such. I just keep all private stuff on an external and turned off when surfing, and use common sense when opening emails and going to web sites.

    :)

  2. Vista was final too but didn't feel stable until SP1. I think it depends on the system. I've found a few programs that just simply messed with my machine but worked fine on other peoples.

  3. It was totally IE8 on my system. I only run NOd32 in real time and never have a problem with speed. As soon as I put IE8 on everything slowed to a crawl (web pages loading, applications starting, etc). Once I went back to IE7 everything was fine again.

I actually like IE7 (have it set up for the kids with their favorites, etc.) with the pro add on, its just that I like firefox better (due to a few specific addons like webmail notifier. I like opera too (its the snappiest on my machine for sure), but since it doesnt have a few features that I like in firefox i don't use it much.

There is definately some sort of snag in IE8 that affects some of our PC's. Just like all other software out there, it just doesn't seem to affect everyone's the same.

  4. Tarun has just packed other peoples tried and true products into one handy download to make it easier for the novice user to get a one stop shop for good, clean, easy to use software. it's actually a pretty good idea, and the way he organizes things are pretty neat and clean to look at.

  5. I've got a 32 and a 64 bit system, each with vista on them. 64 bit is a bit snappier, but it is a better computer overall. i havent had any problems with compatibility for the most part either.
