  1. In that case, do this:To start Windows 2000 using the last known good configuration

Click Options, and then click Print to print these instructions. They will not be available after you shut down your computer in step 2.

Click Start, and then click Shut Down.

Click Restart, and then click OK.

When you see the message Please select the operating system to start, press F8.

Use the arrow keys to highlight Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.

NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function.

Use the arrow keys to highlight an operating system, and then press ENTER.

    Note

Choosing Last Known Good Configuration provides a way to recover from problems such as a newly added driver that may be incorrect for your hardware. It does not solve problems caused by corrupted or missing drivers or files.

When you choose Last Known Good Configuration, Windows 2000 restores information in registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet only. Any changes you have made in other registry keys remain.

  2. Tried picasa, powertoys, icon sizer ,and freestone screen capture all of which resize. I can size down, but not up. Has something to do with the scanner, but I can"t figure out what. BTW, the white border gets larger, but the image remains the same?

  3. A couple had 9 children. They went to the doctor to

see about getting the husband "fixed". The doctor asked why, after 9

children, would you choose to do this. The husband replied that they had

read a recent article that 1 out of every 10 children being born was Mexican

and they didn't want a Mexican baby - especially since neither of them could

    speak Spanish.

  4. Mastertech: Obviously it was put there to give you something to occupy your time. Tomorrow we should discuss the relative merits of: 1. close all tags 2. close all open tags (if in fact they are completely open} 3. tag. you're it. 4. What is a tag, and is it your friend? 5. Are tags prefetched? What a dilemma.

  5. Yes! The people doing the most complaining are the able bodied ones who chose to stay in the city when there was ample warning. I ask you: Who would stay in a city below sea level in a major hurricane? I have been in more than my share of them, and it is not as easy as all the detractors think it is. I am of the opinion that there is ample blame to go around, and the majority of it should fall squarely on the Governor of the State of Louisiana. She has her own private army (the Guard)and the power (the constitution) to use them. They obviosly have the equipment to move those folks, and she should have done so before the storm. No one can get around all that mess of busted city and water in a hurry. The time to prepare for a hurricane is before it gets there and run like hell!

  6. Here is a hoot: The leader of Jefferson Parish has declared the parish a foreign country so that he can get federal aid in a more timely manner. A new olympic sport: underwater mardi gras bead and moon pie toss.

  7. I.m a little late here, but what matters is your DVD player that you intend to use, and what you are burning. Most DVD players before 2002 are better off, and have a higher compatibility with-R. They will play DVD-RW, but not as well. It has been my experience that most movies play better on a DVD-R disc if you have a choice. Essentially what we have here is 2 trade groups at odds about format and money. The DVD player will provide documentation on what discs it will play. If a + will not play your movies, a - probably will.
