  1. If this is related to installed apps under Tools, hitting F5 should be able to refresh them
  2. +1 In addition, I would love to have some features to be included in the list even though they are not related to particular files/folders (i.e. Menu Order Cache, Environment Path etc.) - I would like to see them listed so I know those tasks will be executed and their details should point to registry keys or files that will be modified and/or deleted. This way I have no idea if those aren't listed because they don't apply or will do something in the background that I might not like, especially because most of these features are not documented and nobody knows what/how are they "cleaning"
  3. The problem with rebuilding the cache is that even with CCleaner deleting the IconCache.db, you still need to manually kill Explorer.exe and it would be nice if CCleaner would automatically kill it, delete the cache, and start Explorer again, with a confirmation popup before the operation in order to notify user what it will do in case you have something important opened. But, it would be ideal if CCleaner would be able to delete only the junk icons for missing apps as this way it will delete all of them and if you're hiding inactive icons you will need to reconfigure all of them from scratch which may be a bit annoying. Unfortunately, it seems even MS wasn't capable to fix this or simply doesn't care as there are several bugs related to this since XP was released, and there are no 3rd party tools capable of dealing with icon cache in such way either
  4. I noticed that the latest version has changed the way disk(s) are sellected, so instead of full row selection now I have to select the drive label which can be a bit annoying if your disk labels are short. This follows the old way Windows used selections in Explorer like apps, which was changed in Vista into full row selection. I hated this for a long time, but got used to it and now want it back Not sure if this was changed with intention or not, but would be nice to have an option to switch between these 2.
  5. Speaking of SSDs is there a chance that annoying SSD detected alert message can be disabled, so it doesn't show it anymore? I'd like to have such option, and yes, I know there's not much benefit of defragging SSD, but I still do it occasionally as I like to sort my FS from time to time
  6. I know such algorithm would not be easy as even if boot optimization is turned on in Windows it relies on Prefetch and Layout.ini which is not accurate and it includes 2 levels of files - those used at boot time and those frequently launched, so it's trying to move all of them in certain order closer to the start of the disk. Windows XP had a nice tool BootVis which was monitoring the order of loading Win kernel, drivers and boot apps. There's something similar for Vista/W7 called WPT (Windows Performance Analysis Toolkit). Is there any chance something like this can be implemented in a future? Windows built-in boot optimization relies on the built-in defraggler, so if I completely replace it with Defraggler I loose this boot optimization and it would be excellent if it would support something similar Though, I would love to have the full control over the boot process and be able to manually change the order of drivers, startup apps, services... There are some dummy boot delay apps that do more or less decent job like Soluto, but that's not sufficient
  7. Paragon TotalDefrag has this feature and it works pretty fast. CCleaner has Drive Wiper which does similar job, but it takes too much time as it's actually wiping the whole free space and is forcing MFT to shrink, though when it gets close to 99% it triggers System Restore which then deletes one or more SR snapshots as the disk space gets very low. It's not a bug, but may need some improvement. Anyway, what I'm proposing is just to include similar feature to Defraggler, but instead of wiping the free space just compact MFT and defrag it.
  8. I'd love to have this option! There are pros and cons here, but I vote for this option so who wants it and believes it has advantage can use it, the other may skip it, but for those that are stuck to laptops and are limited with amount of RAM this means a lot, especially during crash as it will use pagefile, and when you're stuck with slow HDD and are forced to use pagefile this is very important feature. mikesw explained various cases when this doesn't fully work, but those are exceptions and can't be handled, but that doesn't mean that this one wouldn't help. Even if PF grows, after restart it will be reduced to its default value which will remain defragged at the begining of the HDD. I would also like to see an option to add other files/folder in a specific order to the start/end of the disk.
  9. There's no much point of defragging multiple partitions on the same driver, but I agree there may be a benefit if multiple physical drives are defragged concurrently as the slow drives with high fragmentation may last for ever and the fast ones may be already completed in the meantime. Currently if it starts with the slow one the others will have to wait in queue
  10. +1 It would be nice to have these two options: move to the begining and move to the end, in specific order of those moved to begining/end.
  11. +1 Not sure if I understand the idea here (is it supposed to include system service to keep analyzing and monitoring fragmented level?), but it would be great if a scheduled defrag would run disk check first, then analyze and at the end if the configured treshhold is triggered run a configured type of defrag. If fragmentation is very low there's no point of defragging the whole drive for example.
  12. +1 Though, it would be even better if we can customize the order of files and folders and have an initial predefined list of SF folders and their order (i.e. %SystemRoot%, %WinDir%, %ProgramFiles%, %ProgramFiles(x86)%, %AppData%, %UserProfile% etc.).
