I recommended CCleaner to a technical friend at work (we're programmers) because his system was going slow and he hoards files. Well, we went through each option to ensure certain files that he wanted to keep were kept after the Cleaner runs. So naturally, we deselected, "Windows Explorer: Recent Documents". We ran CCleaner and guess what. All of his recent documents were gone. He got VERY angry with me and sort of lost his temper.
This is [OT] but I really can't understand people getting mad losing their recent items. Those will come back over time or usually pretty quickly by just opening the files you most often use. Or you could use shortcuts or pin to the start menu/taskbar. A bit like people getting mad of losing history; never considered using bookmarks/shortcuts/tabs?[/OT].
But yeah I've noticed similar with Office.
Btw. did you/he use Winapp2.ini file with CCleaner?

I haven't even bothered to plug my LEDs in my case/motherboard.

could have sworn there was a thread for new FF releases but couldn't find it.
It's here http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=34708 but I've stopped updating it.

I'd highly recommend to update to the latest version which is v4.00.4064 at the moment (week old).
Your version is 1 year and 8 months old (Released: 26 Jul 2011).

OT: Wow your desktop looks weird.. /OT
Which CCleaner version are you using? Have you closed browsers (mainly IE) while cleaning?
Which entries have you ticked in CCleaner?
-
I was going to follow kroozer's advice but then I noticed under Options (About) a button to upgrade.
When I clicked on the button a window popped up requesting registration details (and the option to buy).
I did this for my portable CCleaner, works just fine.

Good you got it worked out.
Now I feel like a real idiot.
No need to.

You can get autoupdate (update inside the program) if you pay for CCleaner (eg for Professional version).
-
It does scan and clean them, CCleaner just doesn't show/report registry entries.
This feature has been asked many times (also from me), but we'll see if they'll ever include it..

You can find all the latest versions here: http://www.piriform.com/download
and upgrade them to Pro inside the program.

There's no "settings.ini" in CCleaner, did you mean "ccleaner.ini"?
I don't have portable Chrome currently on my USB, but this portable Firefox entry works:
CustomLocation1=FIREFOX|J:\PortableApps\FirefoxPortable\Data\profile
I've had this for my portable Chrome:
CustomLocation6=CHROME|J:\PortableApps\GoogleChromePortable\Data\profile\Default

Did you check? Some of the processes might be named as firefox.exe and plugin_container.exe.
Are you using other browsers?
-
You might have Firefox process(es) running at the background.
-
Cool, thanks!
Won't need duplicate file finder or monitoring tool, but the other tweaks are nice and I'm waiting for the Android version.
-
Also overwrite slows the cleanings. Your analysis shows (only) 0.814 secs.
You are running 5 months old version so I'd recommend to update to the latest CCleaner version (v3.28.1913).

Does https://www.piriform.com/contact work for you?

I meant the devices you connect to the network.
(2) would only use WPA2/AES which is better but is not supported so widely.
Usually anything but WEP is enough.
-
Use WPA2-PSK & AES if your devices support it, otherwise WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK & TKIP/AES.

You could use Custom Locations or Include or make your own entry.

CCleaner shouldn't close itself. Which version are you using and where did you download it from?
Are you using Secure Deletion or Wipe Free Space options?
-
You propaply have some background process running by Chrome (Chrome or extensions/plugins).
CCleaner & Chrome version?
