  1. On Win7 systems there is a system protected folder C:\Windows\Installer\$PatchCache$\Managed\* which contains much, deleteable stuff. After having made system protected folder visible in WinExplorer in menu Tools->Folder options-View-Hide protected operating system files=NO I added this folder to the user defined folders in CCleaner. (Side note: CCleaner should offer to add hidded system folders/files without having to unhide them first). Then I hide these type of files/folders again in WinExplorer. But this hide action makes them again unvisible to CCleaner again. So at next clean run CCleaner ignores these files. How can I CCleaner treat hidden system protected files ? Thomas
  2. I have a desktop and a notebook computer. On each of them I run CCleaner. On bother approx 50 different cookies should be kept. So when I add a cookie on e.g. my desktop the same cookie should be kept on the notebook. WHere are the cookies names to keep stored? Can I export the cookie names somehow on one computer, then copy it to another computer and finally import them into the CCleaner installation over there? I found no export/import feature. How else can I achiev this sync? Thomas
  3. Assume I run ccleaner64.exe on 64bit Win7 system. On this system I use occasionally the 32bit version of IntExp as well. Does ccleaner64.exe wash the cookies of the 32 bit IntExp as well? It seems to me that ccleaner64.exe does not pay attention to the "do NOT clean these cookies list" when cleaning the 32bit stuff and cleans ALL cookies. Thomas
  4. It is likely that all files which are put in one directory are used together. So if I call e.g. prgm in D:\aaa\bbb\ccc\myprog.exe will use a log file in D:\aaa\bbb\ccc\myprog.log If they are both in the same (or neighbor) sector the access is faster. The hard disc head is not forced to move/jump across the hard disc So again: Is Defraggler somehow able to group files according to their path?
  5. Hmm, I did not disable UAC completely but lower the security slider to the lowest possible mode. Are there any problems with this situation as well? Having manually to create a scheduled task and a shortcut and a link is far from being user friendly. Couldn't this all be automatically created by CCleaner if Win7 is detected?
  6. Ok, as you suggested I performed a manual run. Cookies were wiped now. But this does not necessarily mean that the problem is outside of CCleaner. Maybe CCleaner - is called at startup but could not run because of missing DLLs (e.g. .NET ?) at that time or - could start but not find at this time the cookies because of missing PATH env variable values or - could find them but could not delete them because of locks on cookie files or - .....other reasons. So the question is still: How to find out the real reason? How to find out if CCleaner is called? Is there really not log? Thomas
  7. I have 64bit Win7 and newest CCleaner with enabled option "runCCleaner at windows start". The auto-start IS successfully entered in startup Registry lists (verified e.g. by CCLeaner itself). However when I boot/restart Win7 and look immediately afterwards into Options->Cookies then the left side "COokies to delete" contains tons of (undeletd) cookies. Why are they not wiped? Maybe it is because I am using Internet Explorer 9 Is CCleaner IE9 compatbile? Is there really not CCleaner logging possible where I can look for possible errors of even if CCleaner is really executed at startup at all? Thomas
  8. Hmm, wouldn't it be easier (for the users) to show the non-defragmented files just after the defragmentation run? All information is available to Defraggler. Having to run Defraggler again takes here approx 5-6 minutes and is user unfriendly. Same with the reason: It would be very helpful to know if it is a locking problem OR a lack of space. Is it required to have contiguous space for defragmentation or enough free space at all? Thomas
  9. As far as I know directory entries are spread all across the whole hard disc - not necessarily at the beginning of the hard disc. Can I collect+group+re-arrange these directory alltogether at the beginning of the hard disc resp. the fastest hard disc zone? If not: Can this feature be added to the next release? Thank you Thomas
  10. Is there a way to defrag + sort the files alphabetically according to their path+filesname? If not: Can this feature be added to the next release? Thank you Thomas
  11. The squares in the defragment map are rather big. Is there a way to decrease the size to 2x2 (or evem 1x1) pixel? If not: Can this feature be added to the enxt release? Thomas
  12. After marking some files in the defragmented files list and trying to defrag them Defraggler told me: "SOme files were not defragmented". How do I find out which exactly/in detail? Why are they not defragmented? Thomas
  13. Is it possible to tell CCleaner to jump immediately and automatically at start to the Cookie Manager tab? If not: Could this option be included in the next release? Thank you Thomas
  14. I would like to export the current list of cookies to keep. The backup should be a) restored at a later time (e.g. after crash+reinstall of the WinOS) on the same machine or copied to another computer (e.g. ym notebook) and imported on CCleaner installation there How can I achieve this? Thomas
  15. Thank you. The result was really disappointing. From the 10 index.dat files shown in the snapshot above only 1 was cleaned by CCleaner. Hmm, is there really no advanced find-all-index.dat-files-and-wipe-them feature in CCleaner? This is a big security hole. Could this be included in the next release? Thomas
  16. One of the most important features I need is to keep wanted and to delete unwanted cookies. In the current way Cookies are difficult to handle. It is not easy to find out for some websites which Cookie or occasionally which Cookies they created: xxxxxxx.org www.xxxxxx.org blah.xxxxxx.org forum.xxxxx.org forums.xxxxxx.org otherxxxxx.org So I need an easy way to filter out the cookies which are just created or accessed. This is currently not possible in CCleaner. A tool which gives many (all) information about Cookies is the free IECookiesView (and MozillaCookiesView) from famous nirsoft.net website: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/iecookies.html Could CCleaner show e.g. the creation date and accessed date in a similar manner? That means with 2 sortable columns for these 2 dates. That would be great! Thomas
  17. I would appreciate if CCleaner could offer a clean-only-cookies button for a one-shot wipe. Ok, I know on the long run I could just enable the checkbox near "cookies" in the object selection list. But imagine I want in general a full run with all items but just in one situation I want the cleaning of only the cookies. In order not to have manually disabling all 50 items, then clean and later re-enabling all 50 manually again such a cookie-restricted button would be perfect. Can this be introduced in the next version? Thomas
  18. As far as I can see index.dat files are cleaned during a run. But which of them in detail? As you can see from the attached snapshot my system has 10 (!) of them. How can I tell CCleaner to list all of the index.dat files it knows? Thomas
  19. In one of the former postings: http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=5143 an auto shutdown script for WinXP is mentioned (see first posting in thread). I cannot download this script from this positing. Where is it ? Thomas
  20. I want to start CCLeaner occasionally from an automatic long batch script. In this script CCLenaer is called by CCleaner.exe /AUTO When started in such a way CCleaner is performed silently in background. I would appreciate if CCLeaner could popup its GUI window, then show what it is currently doing and finally exit without prompt. How can I achieve this? If this is not possible: Could this be added in the next release? Thomas
  21. How can I tell CCleaner to write a log file about all actions which were performed ? An apropriate option should be available for the cmdline start/call as well. Thomas
  22. Oh, thank you. Anyway, I suggest to mention this portable version on page http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download too Peter
  23. I prefer to use portable versions of tools like CCleaner which I can start form my USB Stick. When will CCleaner offer an option to just unzip/extract its new release file instead of force users to full install it? Peter
  24. At the end of a CCleaner run I want to run a batch script like mypersonaladditionalcleanup.bat Unfortuantely CCleaner does NOT offer to specify such a bat?ch script. Can this be added in the next release? thank you Peter
