  1. I've been on many help forums but I have to say this is the only one I know that lacks a delete button.

I can understand forums need moderating but if I didn't want to contribute to a thread I should be allowed to remove it.

Most forums prevent deletion if another users posts after anyway or prevent editing if it existed for more than 24 hours.

I guess everyone has their own way of doing things here :)

  2. Once the software is installed you can decide whether to run Internet Explorer inside or outside the sandbox or both.

If you download files inside the sandbox then the files are stored in a folder located in c:\sandbox\ until you've purged it.

  3. SIW is not bad but it's a little buggy for me :)

No CPU tempture display for my poor old P4 (same as Speccy though) and apparently I have a Maxtor Hard Drive made by Lite-On lol

  4. I hate Comodo it's the most paranoid piece of junk I've ever installed on a friend's computer and for some reason was a total pain for uninstalling too.

When I used to run Windows 95 I had Tiny Personal Firewall v2.0.15 (and XP SP2 compatible) it had a nice and simple interface to allow disallow applications with additional MD5 signature checks and a GUI network connection viewer tool similar to Sysinternals TCPView.

You could also create rules based on Protocol i.e. TCP, UDP, ICMP and decided what port range, IP range would have permissions and which direction e.g. in / out / both.

As a free Firewall this was the best thing I've ever used and so configurable it was a dream when compared to the likes of ZoneAlarm.

When TPF turned commercial with version 3.x everything changed it was utter bloatware / system hijacking rubbish my friend installed a cracked copy with keygen, he got so pissed off with it trashing his system he put the free version back on lol.

I understand there was a split with some of the coders so TPF 2.x became Kerio Personal Firewall which had an identical interface.

After a few years Kerio was bought out by Sunbelt and thus Sunbelt Personal Firewall was born - http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/home-home-o...sonal-firewall/

I've used Sunbelt for a few years on XP but like many security applications then tend to knock your system performance down a bit so after I bought my wireless router I uninstalled it since I had no need for incoming network protection.

btw: Kerio and TPF2.x can still be downloaded from http://www.oldversion.com/ :)

I will say that as freeware Firewall XP and Vista compatible this is an excellent and highly recommended product.

  5. I don't know why people are obsessed with cleaning their system registry 99% of the time it's not really needed and certain doesn't make your machine any faster.

In my opinion registry cleaners should only be used when apps are failing to run or you're encountering system errors that cannot be fixed.

In a worse case scenario you could always use the repair option in Windows and keep all your existing documents and media files untouched.

  6. It's not correct however judging by the graph it does appear Speccy is obtaining statistical data from the CPU sensor.

There are 2 possibilities for this error: a) the sensor is defected and sending the wrong values / motherboard needs a firmware update b) Speccy isn't reading the data correctly.

The only thing I could suggest is try another application for reading temperature (I believe the BIOS Setup should have a page for this data) and see if you have the correct temperature.

  7. I guess what would be really nice if you could define a file type, i.e. header data and binary signatures so Recuva could perform a blind search for other files.

  8. Defraggler does not support Windows 98/ME however your Operating System has a built-in defrag tool which should be more than adequate.

If you have a boot CD like BartPE or Hiren's Tools (Mini XP) then it would be possible to run Defraggler from a USB Flash Drive.

  9. It's probably been blacklisted by my ISP then:
