  1. The poll will probably and unfornutately only get votes from people who know about this thread and actually pay attention to the links provided by englishmen, or that notice the links in his signature.

I doubt very much that it will generate allot of traffic hence I suspect many people who are CCleaner users have been getting it from their favourite download site and haven't even been to the forum once since it isn't after all highlighted and linked to from within the program in the About section. It isn't even linked to within the start menu program group. Most apps I've used that have a forum gladly and proudly link to their forum within the program and in plain site.

  2. I definitely won't be using Vista, as XP is the last MS OS I'll ever use, eight years of using MS OSes is enough for a lifetime of the dreaded never ending security patches to place a Band-Aid over holes in Windows. Of course I'll have to grow rather tired of XP first before I switch to something different altogether. My thoughts are either Linux, Mac, or something off the wall that isn't even computer/PC based in the usual sense.

  3. Speaking of FDM, how do I add it for ccleaner to clear out the list? I tried a while back but it didn't work.

You can create an entry in winapp2.ini. See the winapp2.ini submissions thread for examples of how to make your own entry. If your entry works remember to submit it via the winapp2.ini thread to TwistedMetal in a PM, although I don't know when it would get added since TwistedMetal hasn't been around for a long time. Is anyone else worried about him?

  4. Well it was a surprise to me, I didn't know about that feature in WinXP, I just tried it on a farts whim.

Nope, it doesn't work with every .exe file.

 ... I think she's swearing at me...

    "yes friend...thanks"

Nah those aren't swear words yet.

  5. Although you can't password protect CCleaner you could in theory hide it by removing all shortcuts to it e.g.; Desktop, and in the Start Menu. And then right click the CCleaner program files folder and select Hidden to make it a hidden folder that nobody can see unless they turn on hidden files and folders, or use a utility that shows them.

Of course this would mean you'd have to manually start CCleaner each time via Start, Run.

Hmm, interesting for some reason when I clicked Start, Run and just typed in CCleaner (no path, etc.,) it loaded the program.

  6. @Andavari

your choice... Just to remind you: there is far more users with intergrated Sound card which is having poor sound quality (not poor but in comparison to SB live (very cheap) 24 bit... (i dont mean this new motherboards with SB live 7.1 and so on))! And OGG is taking so little space on your HDD and that is very good (because usual users (in serbia) have around 3000- 15000 songs in Mp3 (depending on HDD size but almost every teenager is having around 20 gb of music (now hdd-s are cheap so this number is expended!))!

Quality is excellent (when you convert Audio cd (original) to OGG at 500 kb/s) and i recommend this format (but people like mp3)

No it isn't a choice of mine. If you want to make claims of a 66 kbps .ogg being better than a 128 kbps .mp3 you're going to have to provide proof, which I already know doesn't exist.

Educate yourself by reading reputable audio forums.

  7. Is it possible that ccleaner simply nuked some saved information from this app which resided in the registry?

If it isn't listed in any of CCleaner's .ini files winapp.ini, etc., then there isn't a cleaning routine for it. With that said the only part of CCleaner that could touch it would be the Issues scanner, e.g.; registry cleaner in CCleaner however that's highly unlikely.

If you created the backup .reg file that CCleaner would have prompted you to do when running the Issues scanner you could open that .reg file in Notepad and look for Palm entries, etc.

Also if you're using a version of Windows with System Restore you could try that - although I have no ideal if that would resurrect the data, more than likely it wouldn't. It could just be data corruption.

  8. , if you dont mind me asking what did AT&T do?

    1. False T.V. advertisement price versus the real price.

    2. Overcharging me and acting as if I was getting a good deal, refer to #1 listed above.

    3. Giving me nothing but trouble to disconnect the service.

3a. Stating I had to drive my cable modem to their main office which was a two hour drive to another city altogether - yet they have an office in my city. I declined that.

3b. Stating I owed them money - which was in reverse they actually owed me money - go figure.

... Then came my lawyer; I gave him all my bill statements from them and the dups/carbon copies of all the personal checks I had wrote them and they graciously disconnected the service. They gave me one free month of cable T.V. without me asking - they just didn't charge me for a month, they had offered me three free months of high-speed Internet but I declined for obvious reasons.

  9. Still on a slow connection then Andavari .

Yeah, well the only high-speed provider in my area is Mediacom which was formerly AT&T and still owned by AT&T to my knowledge which was an ISP that I sicked my lawyer on for trying to screw me over when I had a cable modem in 2000 - hence the reason I don't want anything from them.

  10. This q gave me a little giggle:

"Subtle" and "stealth" are not words in your vocabulary; "Smash" and "Crush" are, though

    Here's my stats:

    El Zorro - 83%

Batman, the Dark Knight - 75%

    James Bond, Agent 007 - 67%

    Neo, the "One" - 67%

    Lara Croft - 67%

    Captain Jack Sparrow - 50%

    The Terminator - 50%

    Maximus - 50%

    William Wallace - 42%

    Indiana Jones - 33%

    The Amazing Spider-Man - 17%

  11. I guess this does the job

It does. And whatsmore it doesn't write any data into the registry, however it's more of a type of app for high-speed Internet connections hence it will automatically download the signature files each time.

  12. I have no ideal why the contents of your My Documents and Favorites folder would be deleted - if they were in the correct default locations.

If the My Documents folder can't be accessed it could mean the .dll that allows it to work needs to be registered again, here's how:

regsvr32.exe "input the path to mydocs.dll"

Example: It could look like this:

    regsvr32.exe "%windir%\system32\mydocs.dll"

  13. However, you might also consider encoding it to Ogg Vorbis (.ogg) instead of MP3.

Downloads for Ogg Vorbis software can be found here. Currently Oggenc2.8 using aoTuVb4.51 is being recommended on Hydrogenaudio.
