  1. Thanks for the reference. I was actually responding to Vampiric's earlier post.

I just tried this browser today and it is quite good. It is a spinoff of Chromium which is also the source of Google Chrome. However, Iron does not have the privacy issues that are present with Chrome.

It doesn't have many features developed yet, but it has a lot of potential.

  2. I would check your Program Files directory for anything related to Yahoo toolbar. Just because it isn't in Add/Remove, doesn't mean it's not on your computer.

The only thing that is related is Yahoo is one of the choices in my search engines. Would this be considered a Yahoo toolbar?

  3. As a result of installing winapp2.ini, I have several duplicate entries (the new ones begin with an *) such as Nero Burning ROM, Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader, Yahoo Toolbar, WinRAR, and WMP. I have been running CC with all checked with no problems.

Do they do potentially slightly different things?

Should I select one or continue with all selected?

Curiously, I don't have YahooToolbar on my computer, so that entry is a mistake. Right?

    Any help will be appreciated.

  4. Hi Derekmski

this has been talked to death here. What you are talking about is Eraser, this file or free space cleaner is possibly the best to date. I use it but don't take my word for it, keep an open mind. If you are to try it use version 5.7 and not any later. It has a shell extension so you can right click any file or folder, also the free space cleaner is very good. If you are to use it be sure to make the necessary precautions first I.E. system restore off, do not defrag etc. Best thing to do would to be read all the info from there web site first. Anyway good luck and let us know what you decide and how you get on.

    Regards Richard...

Is there a portable version of version 5.7 of Eraser?

  5. I have some financial documents that I need to erase so they cannot ever be retrieved. Is the CCleaner's secure delete adequate or would I be better to use another app such as Eraser?

  6. It always did. CC overwrites the data in the file, and that cannot be recovered full blooming stop. However a file can possibly be reconstructed from other fragments that exist on disk from edits, pagefiles, sys recovery etc. This is entirely separate from the function of CC, which is to overwrite what you tell it to. Can you post a link to fileforum, for interest?

Below is the link--the comment on Nov 11/07 identifies the problem:

  7. I have an older Dell laptop with a 1.6Ghz pentium processor and 512 mb of RAM. I

I recently noticed that when I click Properties on MyComputer sometimes it show:

1.60 GHz, 512 MB of RAM

and other times it shows: 591 MHz, 512 MB of RAM.

Does anyone have an idea of what is happening?

    Thanks for your help.

  8. I read some comments on CC on FileForum that identified an issue with the secure delete. They said that it does not work and the items can be recovered with undelete software.

Is this an old problem that has been corrected now or still a current problem?

    Thanks for your help.
