  1. There is a simple reg fix for this problem 1200, but I can't upload it here, if you want I can send it to you though.

It is just a matter of right clicking the .reg file and selecting merge with my fix.

  2. I thought you were color blind?

I am, I can still see colours, I just can't name them all.

    What?

Are you really color blind CaPMan?

If so do you see green and red as the same color?(at least thats what I think I know about color blind people)

Green and red could prove awkward sometimes, as could green and brown or brown and red.

Orange and yellow could prove awkward as could purple and blue, or even blue and black sometimes.

It is not definite colours that cause me problems, it is shades of colours.

When I was a kid I came out of school and got home and told my mum that there was a green dog outside the school gates. It was brown. That is when we found out I was colour blind.

Luckily it does not affect my job as an electrician.

  3. I think you and me would have to leave these wet and windy shores for that.

Fingers crossed for those 6 numbers one of these Saturdays.

    :)

    Hell, yeah.

I don't know where I would want to move to though because I don't like the heat either.

i LOVE winter! I like it because those of you who are cold can pile on layers. But during the summer if you get hot, theres not really much you can do about it! well, it's pretty cold here. It's 58?, and that's in our house! LOL

That's true, but I hate piling on the layers. it makes me feel too restricted.

You mean something like this: :)

Damn, the little spiders that we get over here are bad enough, that thing would make me die.

  4. Oh come on, are you seriously saying that using a derogotary term makes kids want to be that. I could just as easily label them braindead t**ts, by your logic all the kids would go 'Yeah I want to be a braindead t**t too'. Of the kids I know they REALLY don't want to be chavs because its a negative thing.

As for what do I consider dodgy cars, basically any car that they spend all their time bolting cheap bits of plastic onto.

I was not saying that using a derogatory term makes a kid want to be that, I was saying using a term that might sound cool to kids, and the behaviour of said kids, will make other kids want to be that.

That said, I am sure there are some kids out there that would want to be a braindead t**t, if there was a a group of misfits out there labeled as such.

Kids who are willing to spend their time bolting pieces of cheap plastic on to their cars is not a bad thing, at least they are learning something in the process, and are not on the streets causing trouble.

Well, the subject has certainly engendered some healthy discussion, and I unreservedly apologise if I have caused any offence to you or your family CaPMan.

The kids seen running away from my 3 week old Mazda6 2 nights ago, after running something sharp and metallic down the side, were hooded, white tracksuit wearing chavs.

    No apology needed DennisD.

I guess the kids that done the damage to your car could fall into the "braindead t**t" category. :)

    9,100 results! Wow.

14,200 if you turn off SafeSearch. ;)

  5. Not really. Really poor dress sense (usually involving baseball caps, sportswear, cheap jewellery and anything Burberry) and not enough brain cells to realise are definite requirements. Usually boy racers in dodgy cars too.

    Another fine example, thanks JD.

Create a label such as boy racer, then all the kids want to be one.

What do you class as dodgy cars though?

The kids nowadays drive better cars than I do. They just seem to want to add neon lights everywhere such as underneath or where the washer squirters are. I don't seem to see a lot of kids driving older cars then modding them like they used to.

  6. My kids are always calling each other chavs, they use it as a means of insulting, because they know they are nothing like a "typical chav".

But then, what is a "typical chav"?

    Are they similar to "Hoodies"?

My kids wear hoodies but cannot be classed the same as the kids that wear hoodies and cause trouble.

Nowadays fashion is not only dictating how kids should look, but how they should be interpreted, which I believe is quite sad. Not all kids dressed the same, act the same.

When the Bluewater shopping mall in Kent banned hoodies, I encouraged my kids to wear them there, and even considered getting one myself. People should not be banned from somewhere because of the way they dress.

Fashion should not be allowed to dictate the behaviour of someone, my kids have worn burberry, had burberry bags, they have worn tracksuits, they have worn caps, they like their bling, but they are in no way bad. They are the best kids in the world (to a certain extent), and any parent would be proud to have them as their own.

Society is going downhill by creating labels for kids which other kids then think they have to live up to.

  7. I have used Google Talk slowday444, and it is a great, small, easy to use chat program, unfortunately it does not support webcam use, but I have read somewhere that there is a plug-in for using webcams.

No doubt Google will add this feature too one day.

  8. I hope it is a new computer user who is not locked into Microsoft's bad habits.

That makes a lot of sense.

Thinking back, I did recently have to help someone who has been using computers for a long time.

He had downloaded Activesync from MS, but lost the download file. However, he was not making it clear to me what stage he was at, he said he clicked it and the progress bar went up, then it disappeared.

So I had to figure out whether it was the download progress bar, or the installation progress bar.

Eventually I found out it was the download progress bar and that he had downloaded it to "My Documents".

If only people would look at where they are downloading stuff to, or even change the download location to the desktop, they would find that life is so much easier.

So I retract my other statement about the downloading and installing instructions, even long time computer users still need them obviously.

Btw, I hope your aim in converting people to Linux is successful.

    Best of luck.

  9. JkDefrag is vastly better than the standard Windows one.

The Windows one will just rearrange files so they are in the best order possible with minimum effort.

JkDefrag actually optimizes the files as well as just rearranging them.

  10. Alright, cool. As long as the drive is not being worn out prematurely by doing this, thats all I care about. :)

    It could be:

The spindle motor, also sometimes called the spindle shaft, is responsible for turning the hard disk platters, allowing the hard drive to operate. The spindle motor is sort of a "work horse" of the hard disk. It's not flashy, but it must provide stable, reliable and consistent turning power for thousands of hours of often continuous use, to allow the hard disk to function properly. In fact, many drive failures are actually failures with the spindle motor, not the data storage systems.

    Taken from here.

  11. I am loving this JkDefrag program, I have been using it for a couple of months now, and put it on as many computers as I can. I am sure it makes a big difference to the computers compared with other defraggers.

I am not obsessive with it though, I don't use the screensaver option, but I have been running it once a week or so.

  12. Let me know if you like it in a few days CaPMan. :D

Still liking it at the moment.

Even to the extent that I uninstalled ZoneAlarm on the main computer in work, and put the PC Tools firewall on in it's place.

The new version of ZoneAlarm was blocking access to some chat rooms, with no way to configure it to allow access.

Plus the computer is running a lot quicker now as well, so the boss is pleased, he don't have to wait forever for quickbooks to open anymore. The computer has vastly improved in the speed that it starts up and shuts down as well.

I have not done any actual tests though, so hopefully it is providing the protection that it should be.

  13. I like it, but I always disable the extra features that are present in the trial version from the word go.

I figure that if you are not going to have them after 30 days or whatever, then you might as well not have them at all.

Besides, why pay for anything these days when free alternatives do the job just as good, if not better.

  14. I can't be too sure that it was Kerio causing the problems, but I am guessing it was, only time will tell.

Anyway these are the problems I was experiencing:

Increased shutting down times (my computer normally shuts down in 30 seconds, but it was taking about 2 minutes with Kerio installed.

BSOD's (not often, but often enough to be a PITA.)

    Erratic internet speeds.

  15. After experiencing problems with Kerio Personal Firewall, I decided to give this PC Tools firewall a try, incidentally I had only read about it recently somewhere, but decided to dismiss it as a viable solution for some reason.

But then after reading your recommendation of it rridgely, I thought I would give it a shot, seems ok so far.
