Thanks a lot! I'll let you know how it work out

Didn't work my friend, any other options?

Oh ok so it's not a big deal if they are still working I'm assuming. They are still working as far as I know.
Thanks so much! You guys are my new husbands..lol (Big shot Comcast guy who knows nothing!)

Neither I nor my husband are the brightest stars in the sky obviously..lol..he says it's impossible, we have a "gateway number" assigned and changing the MAC card only changes the last 3 numbers, not the ip address. I'll try concentrating and trying to figure out how to do this. I'm focusing too much on the 192.168.x.xxx number when I should be focusing on the IP# itself? I wish I had DSL..lol
Easiest and obvious solution, since your husband changed the stuff ask him to change the IP address. You could also restudy the link MikeW provided in post #2, as you're unlikely to find any more user friendly instructions.

Please tell me how to do these things. How do I change my MAC address? My husband (who works for Comcast) changed the ethernet something and he said that was going to change the MAC address..nothing happened. I want to change the proxy and the MAC address but it's all gibberish to me. Since this forum has helped me in so many ways, maybe a step by step (I know, virtually impossible) can help me?

Thanks but i've spent a while on there and do not understand anything. I just want to be able to get into a message board I was banned from and half owned and get the perp's info so I can report her to the police. If that is the only website that can help me then I'm in a bind

I'm using Comcast cable internet, router, blah blah, they told me I couldn't do it. I don't like the idea of having the same IP address. I hate getting banned from places and plus I don't feel safe. Is there any way to get around this permanently assigned IP by DHCP or something like that. I can't stand it!
Please don't tell me I can't do it I know with DSL there is a way. I was told that changing the MAC in the modem and manually changing the IP addy would work, tried that..wow it changed from 100 to 104, everything else stayed the same. Was told to unplug, leave the pc off for 24 hours, nope, didn't work. My husband who works for Comcast doesn't know or says no. I guess this is a stupid question huh
I think I know the answer but is there any way to change my IP address?
