  1. So from looking at the Slim and the others there is no way to tell which is the Slim, etc.?

The others wouldn't have different toolbar or Google (or something like that) installed with them? They would look exactly the same.

We always used the Slim because we didn't want to install something we didn't want or didn't know about.

    We are computer illiterate.

  2. Slim only refers to the installer. It only means that the bundled wares (Google Chrome or Toolbar, or some VPN software iirc) aren't in the installer.

How can I tell I am using the SLIM version?

  3. My grandson installed the CC on our new Win10 computer, but he doesn't remember which one. How can we tell if he installed the Slim version? Is there any place on the CC we can click to make sure it is the slim version?

  4. Same answer you were given the other time you asked (in march this year). 2 or so weeks after the version is released.

Thank you. At 80 years of age, my memory is not as good as yours.

  5. I just updated my CCleaner to - Slim Basic Installer v5.10.5373, but I notice that it is opening slower than previous versions I've had. (I've been using CC for many, many years.)

Anyone else notice the same slow opening?

If not, how can I "fix" so it opens as quickly as before?

If I did need to uninstall/reinstall, would CC contain all the 'info' that the present CC has? Applications, Tools,  programs, instructions, etc.?

    Thank you for any help.

  6. hello alicez

    try this please

    http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim

Yes this worked on my Win7. I will try it on my other computers (Vista, WinXP).

I wonder why there was a problem when I tried to download the Slim as I have always been doring, for years and years. (Seems others have had the same problem also when trying to download the Slim version.)

I think it might have something to do with the browser. It appears the browser that was used with this CC on my Win7 opens in Chrome when I click on "Check for Update."

But on my Vista, when I open  CC and click on "Checkfor Update." it opens in FF and the Slim downloads as it has always done.

How can I get the CC on all computers to open in FF?

  7. For many, many years I've been clicking on Check for Updates at the bottom of my Free Slim and have always been taken to a page where I can go down to the bottom  where it says "Builds" and I click on Slim.

Today when I do that I keep getting returned to the following page. I can't seem to download the FREE Slim version that I have been using, as I said, for many, many years.

  8. I did as I always did. I just clicked on the CC lower right of screen where it says " check for updates" and it updated to the newest edition. But when I looked in the Options/Cookies, the cookies to keep were missing. I have always been using the CC  slim for the longest time.

  9. I just installed CC 419 (free slim) and it appears to have deleted all my saved favorites. I had to re-input all my bank info, etc.

Did this happen to anyone else?

  10. It should work on XP:

Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista and XP. Including both 32-bit and 64-bit versions, but not RT tablet editions.

Try to use different web browser.

What do you mean by "try to use different web browser?"  I've always opened CC and then clicked on bottom right of page where it says "check for updates." I was then taken to a web page where I could download the latest Slim version, if there was one available.

When I try it with my WinXP I go to the web page, it only lists Installer and Portable, but no Slim for version 418..

  11. I've always downloaded Slim version for my WinXP. Today I tried to download the 418 CC and I didn't see any Slim version.  Isn't Slim issued any longer for WinXP?

  12. I understand but I just wanted to know "How I would I know if the monitoring has stopped (been disabled) and is not continuously running in the background?" After doing what Hazelnut suggested,

  13. Does this work for you Alice?

Active Monitoring can now be disabled by:

    1. Open CCleaner, then click Options > Monitoring

    2. Disable System Monitoring by unticking the box next to "Enable System Monitoring"

    3. Disable Active Monitoring by unticking the box next to "Enable Active Monitoring", and click Yes when the confirmation box appears

How I would I know if the monitoring has stopped (been disabled) and is not continuously running in the background? I use the Slim version.

  14. I just downloaded/installed CCleaner 418 and got a pop-up stating the following: "CCleaner is now monitoring your computer and will let you know when it needs cleaning."

How do I disable this feature on the Slim version 418?

  15. Does CCleaner (free) have an automatic updater? In my previous post, kroozer said: "If you already have the slim version you'll get the slim update. If not, just untick both options."

I wonder what kroozer meant by "if you already have the slim version, you'll get the slim update."

    How would that happen?

Also, kroozer said "If not, just untick both options."

    Untick what both/two options?

I am not that computer savy.

I tried to post this question on that thread but it had already been closed.

P.S.. Yes, thank you all, I know where to get the "Slim" version when it is released.
