  1. What are the patterns used in the overwriting methods CCleaner provide? I've been searching for info, but haven't found anything specific. I've read somewhere about 0's, 1's and random, the Peter Gutmann 35 passes consisting of 4 randoms, 27 specific and 4 more random passes. But, I can't find anything about the patterns used in the 3 DoD and 7 NSA passes. Sorry if this is not the right forum to ask, but, it was the one that made more sense.

  2. Well, after some testing with the settings, I came to the conclusion that the problem is when System >> Temporary Files is checked. I don't know how CCleaner deals with files that are supposed to be 0 bytes already, but, you guys could check it out. If you need any other info, just tell me. Thanx. Later guys. Hope you can find a way around it for the next release.

    Well, at least one of the things. I tried again now, and stopped working. Then, tried again and it closed without any notification. :( , weird. It must be on the System tree options though.

  3. Hi

    Not disagreeing with you, but where do you see the link to the "CCleaner only" streaming on the page?

    I still can't find it, which is why I assumed you must have streamed all 180+ mb's.

    I must be blind :blink:

    Once you press Start Video, a window will appear. In the new window, below the player, you will see a little square that says: "CCleaner, CCleaner is definitely a great way to clear your track from your browsers."

    I was just doing the typical daily cleaning with 3 passes and suddenly I got an error. 7 passes, the same. I had to choose the simple overwrite method. This is the first time that this happens with the 3 passes. Any ideas?
  5. "Post count really doesn't mean much of anything," I state that however I'm always leary of a first time poster coming onto the forums and recommending some software title, etc., that's never been heard of before - it just seems like spam.

    Although the longer someone is around the more we can get to know them via their posts, i.e.; attitude, etc.

    Well, yeah, it's not about the post count, but, at least the ones that post something (excluding spam in some cases) are trying to interact with you to make the community grow stronger. Plus, the post count does count in a way. There's nothing more annoying to a new person than to be called newbie even when they know they are. So' when that status changes, it makes them feel part of the whole thing. It's not about the number, it's about the feeling of being "accepted". :D

    No disrespect intended, Andavari.

  6. This revision works well, great :)

    An Idea: Use color coding for the recoverable condition of files in list view.

    Red = Unrecoverable

    Orange = Very Poor

    Yellow = Poor

    Green = Excellent

    That would be nice :D

  8. Vista was in development before XP was even released.

    Umm, yeah I know. That's not what I meant. The thing is, in my perspective, Vista, is kind of a failure. There's a lot of Hardware and Software right now that is not compatible with Vista, and issues, etc... So', if so much time and money was spent developing Vista, they should concentrate on fixing at least some issues instead of just keeping developing and guessing. I mean, c'mon, 6 months and they're already saying stuff about "7". I'm not saying: "Stop 7 and fix Vista", but they should do something to limit the losses. But, if they have so much money to throw away something and start again, well, it's their problem. In the end, that helps Linux and other OS's.

  9. I bought a Dell Inspiron 6400 like a month ago. The buttons of the player are already losing their color. Other than that, everything is fine...till now.

    Calling Dell tomorrow to see if the guarantee covers this...Damn it...Also, now they bring the freaking colors right...
