Can some one post up a list of process thats should be running in windows xp. the bare minimum. im not sure what they are but when i open the task manager and view the list of processes... svchost.exe lsass.exe etc stuff like that. its probably on the internet somewhere but i like it here better... does that get me any bonus points.????

honestly all i can see is the thing running in the task manager? What am to be doing with this? do i need to run scans or anything. I must sound retarded but there was no literature in the box on "how-to" do things.

Anyone else have this thing? what does it do. It just appears ot run silently doing its thing. i get no alerts, no pop ups, no nothing... Weird.

where would i look to see whats programs run on start up. I used the CCleaner start up entry program and deleted a bunch of stuff out of there, yet i beleive my laptop should be starting up alot faster then what it is now. Ill take a screen shot when i get home!

My issue with dell isn't the swearing. Its the the pure and simple fact i get someone who can barely speak English on the phone. I know that sounds terrible and its not meant to be. But i dont know why that me calling from Canada, get a Help Desk in Pango Pango? Or a resident of. Thats big Business i guess.

thanks; I do use CCleaner and i love it. Cleaning and Issues all of it. And i have bailed on Ad-aware and use Super Anti Spyware, ill use Ad-Aware on really nasty jobs. Defrags i do routinely. weather they need to be done or not. And for the most part all the PCs im responsible for and my home ones run really well with just doing these few steps. this lap top id love to have the start time improved upon if you got any pointers on that. I need alot of advice on that. HA Im a bit leary of other registry cleaners. I heard alot of good things about CCleaner. but some free software im a bit iffy on.

no. I am the "administrator" so to speak. And some of the users have down loaded the updates. It's a smaller sized business in the hardware and lumber industry. I have the owners consent to baby sit these machines. The sad thing is its a situation where some employees have "special agreements" with the owner/ GM and have had all my networking policies i had in place removed. I am forever removing peer to peer software and other such fun things from these people computers. Its frustraitng as hell. Anyways. Its not a huge deal. I was just curious if they were vital Windows Components. Are POS systems are Super Dos based. ITs fun. I spent a few years getting brushed up on decent technology only to spend my time babysitting DOS based software. Fun... but limited to the programmers scripts. Thanks anyways guys.

I am assuming most of this stuff comes from the automatic downloads. But, what is the pupose of Windows Presentation Foundation, and Workflow Foundation? I looked i googled it, and it doesnt seem ot be anything id ever use at work or at home. Work we only really usethe PCs for Web Browsing, Outlook, A POS system, and spreadhseets. If i were to remove these things am i going ot notice a difference of my day t oday activites. Same applies ot the .NET framework? At home i only use my stuff for surfing, email and music production? Can i do away with these?

I read a review of this software on infopackets and it was glowing. Also ran the free trial software and it looks like a bang up job, but where it was the trial, it didnt fix the problems it found. Just curious if anyone has used this software and what their thoughts on it are? Would like a few more reviews then make the decision to purchase it.

i have a question somewhat related to dual hard drives. . . . how many hard drives can one computer have? also is there any general information i should know if i want to add more hard drives to my machine. adding a slave drive. precautions words of wisdom etc.

Hey there, the business i work for has a network of 15+ P.C.s And we have one of those know it all types in here that figures having a shared file to a file on everyone elses hard drive is cool and flatters their ego. . . "Hey look how smart i am" Anyways it makes exploring the network a pain in the butt 75 plus shared files...... We just acquired a few more computers from another failed business. and i was wondering if i could take the crappy one and set it up on the network as a simple all purpose storage device accesible by all users. Like a server but not you know. It has crap for ram a decent processor, and a huge harddrive. Our main server is dedicated to our POS software so i dont want ot bog it down with that stuff. I just figured it might be a good idea for a multitude of reasons. But not sure if there is anything in particular i should know to do this. Any words of wisdom?

Its all good, more positive re-inforcement. So i guess ill just leave them there.... i have been deleting my Java Runtime environments asi update.... i had four or five in here each taking up 109MBs or something like that. I kept the most recent one. everything seems to be cool.

Hey there ... Fairly new to CCleaner. I love it. But have a few questions about it... A: In the Unistall Program Feature, its showing MS .Net Frameowrk 1.1 and 2.0 below the 3.0 Am i able ot get rid of 1.1 and 2.0 B: Norton Internet Security is in that list multiple times, as is Norton WMI Update and Antispam.. I know norton is satan but whats going on here? Thats all i can think of for now. Any pointers would be greatly apprciated.
